Is the pipe water safe for drinking in Qatar?

I have heard the rumours that the water being supplied in pipes or the tap water that we get in our water connection is safe for drinking....that they are filtered, treated and tested before being send to our homes. is the report true???? or do i need to buy bottled water like safa , qatarat etc etc

Couple of years back, I recall The Peninsula had printed an article comparing tap water to the bottled water which gave the chemical analysis of both. The report showed tap water to be better than the bottled water for drinking. However, I am no authority on this matter and you may need to do your own research on this.
