No cold water in the house in summer..?

Hi All,
Been here almost a year now, everything is great except for a little too hot :) in summer.
We live in a villa but I dont think our hot water tank is inside. I switched off the water heater power from the electrical panel and when I turn the tap to "hot" water it does give a little amount of cold or normal water and then its back to really hot, its not even enough to fill a full glass. I'm guessing the little amount comes from the pipes or something.
Anyways, I have heard of a few options but don't know who to contact. Here is what I have heard/read:
1) Have the roof water tank professionaly insulated
2) Install a chiller in the roof water tank
3) A product called "Bath Cool" (read about it on QL but the thread was from 2007 so not sure if its still available, its basically a fan installed on top of the roof water tank)

Can anyone please advise/suggest to which of these are good, or if they have another solution...?
I would really really appreciate the info.
I know this summer is almost over but I would definitely like to be prepared for next year. If possible, please also let me know contacts and prices....

Thanks in advance
Uzee

I think from the options you have installing a cooler above your water heater is the best option there are many models available in the market from which you can choose.

So no one knows about this product called "Bath Cool" or something similar?

From what I read, it is basically a fan or a blower unit that is installed on top of the roof water tank and that cools down the water.

Has no one seen this or heard of it..??

will help but the best solution is this, get a shower head with very fine holes so even if water is coming straight from the hot source, you can still take the heat. It will be a very soothing shower you can have and the heat is tolerable (actually you'll enjoy it). You only need the calm water in the bucket for rinsing yourself thoroughly immediately!

That is really the solution the cheapest solution that I can recommend is to store huge amounts of water in large container, like cylinders or drums, which can be bought at groceries like carrefour or lulu.

No need to have coolers. take note that this might just be a waste of time and money, as the temeperature of the water inside the tank can be too much, and hence, a really cool temperature is required to decrease this temperature.

I believe two containers, will be enough for your kids and you. Add one more pail, and i think it will be more tahn enough for your family to take a bath in the morning.

Just dont forget to save the water in the containers, before sleeping time.

If you are also taking abath at night, save water in the morning, after you take a bath.

Just dont forget to save water, everytime, so you can have ample amount of water like for washing the dishes, and the like. Washing the dishes during this time is also horrible, the water coming from the faucet is very hard to endure.

BUY THE CONTAINERS NOW AT THE GROCERIES and no need to worry about hot water.

I do that. Got myself some really large buckets. Store the water in the mornings. By evening it cools down. Better option than getting "burned" ubder the shower :)Another benefit is the chlorine evaporates or so I am told.

But be very careful with catching water in buckets if you have small kids. Make sure it has a cover.

do you have freezer? i make ice (NOT ice cubes though) and put it in the bucket before taking a bath. so even if i just filled-in the bucket with water, it won't be hot. :)

Charline: Thanks for the info :) 6000 QR is a bit too much though I think. I'll wait for any other suggestions or solutions before I think about that one.

lyndon_joseph: At least for the kids we store water in a bucket and overnight it cools off pretty good. But we have 3 kids and sometimes the water is not enough, also sometimes we forget to store as well. Besides that, you are right the water is very very hot, so I just try to take a bath with very short intervals of going under the shower and doing that late at night or early morning...

How are you managing to take a bath everyday, say at the morning, as the water in every second of the day is burning hot, even in the morning, definitely in the afternoon, and at night?

I just want to verify before I lay you the solution..

In most of the villas the water heaters are inside the bathrooms so if you switch them off you can have enough water for a shower.

Now they have started to built villas with the water heater outside : esthetically it is better but makes it impossible to have a shower day time!

If you want to have a nice fresh shower, I believe that the best is:

1/install a cooler on your water tank (insulation will do little job but not a lot) but I think that when they install the cooler they also do some insulation on the tank. Check previous post where a person is offering his services http://www.qatarliving.com/answers/family-life/my-shower-help

2/ become member in Ritz/Intercom...and have a nice cold shower there :-)

Solution 1 expensive (I heard 6000QR to be checked) but still cheaper than solution 2 :-)

I am tempted to install a cooler too so please QL readers share your experience!
