Nice place to propose marriage?

My girlfriend and I will be celebrating our 3rd year anniversary. On that very same day, I am going to surprise her by asking her to marry me. The problem is, I don't know a place here in Doha where I can propose. Any hotels in here with a romantic setting? Oh, one more thing...I'm only earning 2000QR monthly Cry that makes it doubly hard for me to find a not so expensinve but classy and romantic dinner.

Where can I buy an engagement ring as well? Any idea about the price range?

There are all kinds things you can do. You can also wait a while (another year and sav up if you want a fancy proposale)...... But if you want to do it this year... Just think of the things she loves to do... the things she likes and make a nice day out. This way she wount know and get suspecious... and you can prepare for the question.....and do you really ned a ring? The love is nog in the ring..... The love is in the heart....

She loves you and if you need anything to make sure she says yes then think about her and what i already said above.... The thought is what counts Just do what is possible and don't do something you can't afford...

Goodluck

just be real, if you can't afford it why dream on it, just go with her e.g. corniche, sit on bermuda grass, kiss her hand and ask her, deliver your message directly like i love you, i want to grow old with you.

it's the thought that counts.

if you go to the souk they have great jewellers there, not so expencive as the ones in al sadd street.

you can go to the shops near/behind Al Fardan Exchange.

Also if you have any old jewelery that you dont use you can exchange it there.

maybe have the ring engraved to make it more personal, it can be better than expencive. woman always appreciated personal touch.

Good luck And hope you find something lovely.

And congratulations :)

Dear macgyver426,

I have discount coupons for a number of very good restaurants. My wife and I are never going to use them all. You can have them either for the proposal or just to have a good meal/outing some day.

If interested give me your e-mail address or phone number.

Britexpat took the words right out of my fingertips! Romantic picnic... beach... sunset (or moonlight).

Don't forget flowers!

Congratulations, good luck, and have a lovely time.

The best way to do it is to cook something very special at home and invite her over. Get a good collection of the most romantic songs. in the middle of the dinner just ask her to marry u.

you can get a elegant but cheap ring in the souq. As for the romantic setting, like others say, you don't have to spend too much just to pop the question. Better go camping/picnic, under the moon, prepared all the food, if you know how to make a cake, put the ring inside (old school), small cake will do, then be creative, you know what you should do..

Goodluck mate!

Btw, prepare your speech/question. And dont forget on which part of the cake you put the ring. :)

Get some food for a picnic, drive over to the beach, wait for the sunset and propose. There's no need for expensive hotels.

Better yet - you in the social group? Bring her camping with us to the Inland Sea. Beautiful out there.

i think you dont need to have that expensive dinner as an ideal to pop that question. you can be romantic without spending much. dhow trip as suggested by tobyson is a good idea. either you pre-arrange or just walk in the corniche and ask the driver/assistant. you can also try to bargain the price.

seems the root problem is money matters...

spend it to the place where only moon and the stars are your sole witnesses...

then God is only one who'd see...

no more to worry about that bothering stuffs...

Take her on a dhow and pre-plan it with the dhow driver,,,make something up..........a violinist, cello player and a guitarist in mexican hats suddenly appearing out of nowhere....etc etc.....and you...rose between yer teeth...ring in your hand and down on one knee....u know...

( violinist and cello player can be yer frends in disguise...dhow driver can double-up as the guitarist)
