I feel sorry for anyone who has grown in to an adult but can't live their life, fall in love and have a happy normal life because they "have to get the nod from their guardians". What an awful existence some people have. No wonder there is so much divorce these days when people aren't marrying who they love, but who their guardians tell them to marry.
