Dear All
I need to report an incident happened with my brother wife and two children who were supposed to be travelling to Doha on QR 0611today, dated 19-05-2018
Actually, they had planned to send our two kids to me as i am working here since 2008, as Safety Advisor. However, they were informed by their travel agent that kids can’t travel alone as a condition has lately been added by concerned authorities requiring the traveller who may seek a visa on arrival should have a credit card. Then we decided that ok my brother wife should go with them to fulfil the requirement.
To our utter disappointment, the Qatar Air officials at boarding counter of Jinnah International airport Karachi disallowed boarding to kids saying that they didn’t have credit cards. As I informed just now that my wife was made to travel with kids only to take care of this aspect, but it was rather strange that kids travelling with a parent were not allowed to issue the boarding passes.
The requirement for a credit card understandably is to ensure that a traveller has adequate financial resources to support his stay in Qatar. By not allowing kids even with their parents is simply mind boggling.
I believe the concerned Qatar Air staff is misinterpreting the regulations and therefore need to be counselled properly. I and my brother families went through considerable mental and physical inconvenience that could have been avoided and children's are very upset.
I, therefore, intended that through this forum my concern should be reached to the concern authority, they may be looked into at an appropriate level so as such incidents causing frustration among intending travellers may not recur.

My question how under age children's could able to get their bank credit card. I also launched complaint to Qatar Airways website, but no response till now.
Regards.

Ridiculous, knock on Akbar Al Bakr's door and get him to train his staff. Call QA and ask for his secretary and make a complain in writing. If no response, put it in the Media, like GT and Peninsula. Should get a response.

Happens everywhere, staff taking matters into their own hands without using common sense.

Kids should not be treated to such behavior.

I sympathize and empathize with you Bro.
