My landlord cashed the security cheque and is refusing

I moved out of the apartment I was living in and had some bills at Kahrama and Qatar cool.

My landlord contacted me and I informed him I had an urgent trip home and he can cash the cheque to pay them and fix some holes (that resulted from wall nails).

After i came back, he started ignoring my calls, and when I threatened him over whatsapp to go to police, he started saying that he had to spend the whole amount (11,000 qar) to pay for the fixing and bills. After I forced him to send me the bills, all of which summed up to around 5-6K QAR... he said he will keep the remaining as they had to spend a few weeks to fix and clean the apartment!

I was also told by the real estate agency I used to find the house that he has been doing this to all other tenants...

I am not sure what to do or who to contact to resolve this issue, he has been dragging this for 2 months!

Yes, as britexpat has said first go to the Rental Dispute Settlement Committee located near Holiday Villa on the C Ring Road. But I doubt very much if the police would be helpful in this matter. Possibly, they may just ask you to approach the above Committee. In the end you may be left with a single option and that is filing a case in the court of law. It may take several months for you to get a verdict from the court and you will need to be present at all the hearing dates. This may prove to be time consuming. The landlords are aware of this, hence their "games". Just hope the Rental Dispute Settlement Committee helps you out.

First go to the Rental Dispute Settlement Committee, which is located next to Rawdat Al Khail Park, in Muntazah, off C Ring road.

Then you may consider filing a police report
