2)i hve a son who is in jr.kg. rite nw. would want to knw when do admissions start, how difficult it is to get into a school and how much in advance do we need to start applying.

3)what is the life in qatar like, especially for women..

4)are there job opportunities in plenty and are they diverse or restricted to certain domains only..

5)whats the house rent like for a fully furnished 2BHK.

6)also what are the areas which are recommended for residential purposes..

7)also need inputs on how difficult it is to clear the driving test and how long does it take to gt a license..how much does this whole thing cost..also is life hell without a vehicle...

Just a few words over and above what has already been addressed.

1. 2BHK furnished - 9 to 16 K per month...depending on location ....size etc. Semi furnished - 7 to 12 K

2. Jobs here are plenty for ladies provided you are not a professional. The more specialized you are more the problems in getting a job here.

Else Qatar is cool.....I moved in from Mumbai and this is bliss and especially after all the hectic Mumbai grind.

Salary as mentioned by you seems good.....though inflation is at its all time high out here :(

Hope to see you around soon. Good luck!!

.......... its not what you think...... but what you do that shapes your destiny.....

28k is good but make sure the package includes free housing. Rents have shot up drastically here in qatar.

For a couple with 1 kid a 2 BHK would be ample space if you aren't the partying type. Rates vary like a

2BHK Qrs. 60000+ , Small Villa qr. 12-15k . There are

very nice places to live in like Hilal, Al Waab (Gated Communities) etc. but then the rent rates are very high.

Housing should be the main issue your hubby has to negotiate with his potential employer. Ask for a decent 2BHK Apartment in Doha Area and take up employment only

if provided.

Indian Schools are several : MES Indian School, Ideal Indian School, DPS, Birla Public School etc. all CBSE syllabus. July-Aug is summer vacation time. Schools reopen in Sept . The Academic Year is the same as in India - its only the vacation period that is different. Driving Tests depend on whether you are new or have an indian licence. For the former a full course of around 30-40 days is needed, otherwise a 12-day course will do. A full course entitles you to 3 tests - so in case you fail one you could make up in the next.

Additionally you get credits for the L, S, Parking etc and need not be repeated in the next test in case you fail one. A word of caution - Driving here in Qatar needs extreme care. I'd suggest you go for a full test

and u need familiarisation with the roads. A lot of building activity is going on with road blocks everywhere.

For women jobs should not be hard to find. Life is

interesting for true blue socialites with many clubs . There is an exclusive Indian Womens Club if you are interested.

All said and done Qatar is the best place in the gulf to stay despite all shortcomings.

WELCOME TO QATAR (been here for a loooooooonnng time)

3)what is the life in qatar like, especially for women..?

Ans 3) If you dont work...watch TV..Cook..Sleep..watch TV..cook..sleep...(ok you can post on QL too...QL also has social group where they go for outing, etc)

5)whats the house rent like for a fully furnished 2 BHK?

Ans 5) QR15,000 Permonth Usually 3-6 months and sometimes (12months) advance cheque.

6)also what are the areas which are recommended for residential purposes..

Ans 6) Try to stay near to your hubby's place of work or Kid's school.

Q7) Driving Test:

A7) If you know driving you will still need to attend 25 days course (according to me). If you dont know Driving then you will have to sign up for full course 40 days I think. If you are a very good driver and used to "lane-driving" you can sign up for 7days course (but I dont recommend it). TAKE THIS VERY SERIOUSLY cause an accident here on the road will have serious repercussions.
