A small salary does not give these taxi drivers any license to collect or demand more from passengers. If they are not happy with the salary then they might as well leave their job or Qatar for good rather than become a nuissance or an irritant to innocent passengers. Passengers can always give tips but should not be expected from every passenger as most people using taxis are those who cant afford to buy a car.
I am sorry for the taxi drivers if they earn little but then most of the people they are victimizing are the the low or middle income workers just like them.
Praise to the taxi drivers who never succumb to dirty tricks and maintain their honesty and continue to work with dignity and integity.
Do you realize how small karwa taxi driver income? We need to support them by giving more.. other solution: buy car, drive yourself, no hassle, no complain
Karwa Taxi nowadays have few good drivers left, most of them have done almost all taxi modus operandi just to earn extra bucks. some do not use meter, some do night tarriff during the day, some even carry multiple passenger and each passenger will pay the cost as to whoever unboard first. I was victimized by all this type of modus in several occassions and had complained once but my complain only floats in the air, the lady who answered me on their hotline even tried to cover up what their drivers are doing. If you hear the stories of the drivers you cant help but pity them for having a hard time earn as much as they could specially those on a boundary scheme, but some of them really are thick faced to even fight with the passenger if not given what they want. another problem we commuters are facing is health hazard, the taxi should be at least clean and tidy at all times but to my dismay, almost all taxi that roam around Doha has either lint, mud and smelly (not to mention the drivers)as they raise the fare they should at least maintain the cleanliness of the taxi.I think all of us taxi riders should voice out our concern on this "getting worst" taxi scenario. This is unacceptable for a highly urbanized and modern country like Qatar. just an opinion and an honest observation.
Also I only noted down the taxi plate number, no photographs. Also, the taxi driver refused to give me the bill. I went to a place from my house for 18QR in Taxi, but when I returned via the same route in taxi again, meter reading was 32 QR. When I objected, Taxi driver said it was due to traffic and also to give him 27 QR. I was with my child, so could not argue for long, just gave him 25QR and he left.
