silv, the reason you don't feel the pang of hunger anymore is because your body is in starvation mode already. all systems are slowed down because of this. but take note that your brain, heart, kidney, liver and practically all the major parts of the body will be greatly affected in the long run.

White rice has been processed to remove the "bran" from the outside..which is the fiber part of rice. Brown rice is more nutritious and good for you than white rice. Its a bit more chewy but its got a good flavor.

Of course there are more options than rice for a carb. Try whoe grain bread..not just when it says wheat bread because those usually just add molasses for coloring, to white bread. Try potatoes...of course, limit the amount of butter you put on them...say 1 tsp..which is one serving of fat. But your body does need fat to sustain itself properly. throw in a little bit of cheese for dairy..that in itself will help you get some Vitamin D in your system

Veggies..well...best i can tell you is that you do need them. Have you ever tried juicing them? You can make some awesome drinks mixing veggie juice with fruit juices.

As far as juice here in Doha is concerned...watch out for the sugar content. Most of them that I have seen have so much sugar added its not even funny. Some of it actually has as much as a Coke!! go for fresh squeezed from the juice stalls and request no sugar added. if you like it sweeter..ask them to make a mixture of whatever juice with pineapple or banana..both are high in natural sugars

NO...juice is not enough to replace a whole meal...

and if I might add Silvia...you can use carbs...try jus to use the less processed ones..like whole grains, brown rice, things like that..skip the white bread...really has no nutritional value if you look at it. Same with iceberg lettuce...tough for your gut to digest and no nutritional value at all. Go for the darker leafed lettuces...packed full of nutrients and vitamins.

silvia, heed the advice of above posters. and scarlett is right, you have to take a balanced diet to be able to function normally.

and one more thing, did you know that carbohydrates are mood- enhancer? carbo actually lifts up your moods! i guess that's why you are tired and kinda depressed because of the fact that you hardly take carbohydrates. if you are already depressed then not taking enough carbo could only exacerbate the situation.

YOU ARE NEARLY ON THAT STAGE ....

You are afraid to go back to being fat now that you are fit, and that is the effect of it.

Yes, DEPRESSION is the major factor for all you are experiencing...

Better to visit clinic/ doctors special only for this subject....

GOODLUCK & STAY HEALTHY...

i read in articel about anorexic:

http://www.helpguide.org/mental/anorexia_signs_symptoms_causes_treatment.htm

Psychological causes of anorexia

People with anorexia are often perfectionists and overachievers. They’re the “good” daughters and sons who do what they’re told, excel in everything they do, and focus on pleasing others. But while anorexics may appear to have it all together on the surface, inside they feel helpless, inadequate, and worthless. They view themselves through a harshly critical lens. If they’re not perfect, they’re a total failure.

this is like describing me, but i dont think am anorexic. or at least thts the way i think

The first physical signs and effects of anorexia are:

Loss of menstrual periods,Lack of energy and weakness, Feeling cold all the time ,Dry & yellowish skin, Constipation and abdominal pain, Restlessness and insomnia, Dizziness, fainting, and headaches

i still have my regular period, and the current situation tht i always feel tired and weak, and during night after work i felt like am sick and cold but i dont have dry and yeloowish skin, i do have constipation problem but no abdominal pain, i do felt restlessness and hv insomnia problem just like my dad....and no fainting or headaches. just dizzy sometimes.

do u think im anorexic?

you have to help yourself.

You need to get over the emotional side of seeing yourself as fat. That's not good for you.

Just try and get your calorie count up to 2000 per day, honey...even if it takes drinking a canned shake instead of taking a nap. Sip it slowly.

I know how it is...got that way my freshman year in college. Was unintentional...was doing 4 major sports and working. Didn't have enough money for food, so cut down on that...ended up doing basically what you are doing. My mom saw me after 3 months and immediately dragged me to the doctor who said, either eat or I'm putting you in the hospital. I chose to help myself and at first eating made me really sick to my stomach...but it got better after a month.

Well maybe because u are just lazy to eat or shall i say maybe ur dieting or depressed for some reasons. I had been there in that stage, depressed! because if ur depressed u really cant eat anything but i changed coz i need to stay strong and healthy and i love my life.

eating fish is just a normal, that happens to me every weekend, wanted to eat seafoods esp fish every friday.

u have to help urself... u need to eat everyday.

Life is sooo good.!

i drink more than 1,5 litter per day.

i can drink 4 cups of coffee in the morning, juice from mandarin if im in doha and any juice stall i order 1,5 litter juice. and sometimes 1 bottle juice per day. and water for 5 glass or something.

whenever i see my self in the mirror, i felt tht im fat. cos before i used to b a fat gurl. i guess the shadow of tht fat gurl still here. but its not only about tht, its just this weird thing, normally when ppl hungry its like ur brain give signal to ur stomach tht u r hungry and sure immediately u go eat. normally i felt tired and hungry at the same time, so i prefer to sleep rather than eat. and when i wake up, i felt only thirsty not hungry anymore.

my friends keep telling me to eat, but everytime i force myself to eat .......i cant eat. also i have this gastro entritis problem, even tough not a severe still in the beginning level. but so far, the stomach have no trouble or causing me any pain.

depression can lead to anorexia...check the information on the condition.

Silvia...how much water do you drink per day? You need to know that you CAN drink too much and it ends up flushing out all the electolytes in your body, causing an imbalance.

the reason you are getting tired is that you aren't eating enough calories for your body to function. Also its not a balanced diet. You need vegetables, protein, fruits, carbs and one serving of fat per day.

Do you realize that by eating what you say you are eating per day, that you are only taking in around 500 calories, MAXIMUM???!!! Your body requires at least 2,000 calories per day to run. You are basically starving yourself to death, honey.

Also, anorexics DO eat...just not much and almost exactly like you are eating. Please be careful as anorexia isn't something to mess around with. It can cause all kinds of health problems, hair loss, loss of menstrual cycle, dry skin, cardiac arrythmia(can lead to cardiac arrest if not treated). Do not go with the "eat when you are hungry" theory because you aren't hungry...that's part of the condition. You will have to force yourself to eat, but do it in small increments...get used to eating again. Just be aware that it might make you a bit nauseous at first because your body isn't used to the food.

Do go to the doctor tho...rule out any biological reason for your odd eating habits.

If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you; that is the main difference between a dog and man.

Qatari lady is right - You have to take a blanced diet. Cutting off rice is good, suppliment with something else to balance the carbohydrates.

Well your problem is depression over something that u are not telling us and you are covering it up by not eating properly. Has nothing to do with fish/rice/chicken whatever. i eat when i'm hungry and i eat whatever i feel like eating without the care of fat, calories, bird flu whatever :P
