Importing Car From The UK

Hi, I am planning to import my car from the UK. Does anyone know if there are any processes that I will need to do. For example get light converters because its a right hand drive. fill any paperwork out to register a uk import car. Pay anything to have it here (not inc transporting it here)changing the number plate???

Has anyone done this?

Why would you want to bring a Type R out here. Apart from the charges, the local mechanics are crap. Put it in a garage in the UK and get one here

Lol, DF, you ain't from around these parts, are you? We Westerners always want our laws written down and adhered to. Not the way things work in the Gulf. And if you have to ask "why" you may be doomed to a life of frustration here.

...because some people love their cars. As me, i am still trying to figure out the process of bringing my cars from Dubai to Doha - i dont understand the 5years rule - seriously! why i'm not allowed to bring a 2006 Mustang Shelby (what is a collectors car!) and a jeep commander HEMI 2006 with low kilometers as part of my household to Doha. I understand that the local dealers wants to be protected from cheap car imports, but seriuosly if i had known this before i signed a contract in Doha...i have would thinked twice. i brought this cars from new and they are paid for, why i should sell for a fraction of their value? its really sad days, but i dont give up until i have a propoer answer on a piece of LAW paper...

2005 honda?? I am not sure but you will have to check if you are allowed to import any car over 5 years old into Qatar. Besides this is Qatar...and a civic would get tossed aside by land cruisers and ahem! Altimas :P

Yes they do sell diesel here.

Unless of course you really are Lewis Hamilton and you are getting your race car here to beat the day lights out of these land cruisers, then it wont matter.

why on earth would you want to spend so much getting a car here. I dont know if its illegal but we drive on the opposite side here compared to UK so getting ur right hand drive is useless, time consuming and a tiresome bunch of paper work. Just rent one for the fraction of the amount and enjoy peace of mind.

I believe it is illegal to have right hand drive cars in Qatar... so, erm... forget it.
