I'm confused- again..

Hiya people. Hope you're all having a great weekend:)
Does anyone know anything about Internet security? I have AVG Free and it's been hassling me to update to 8.0(?) version.

When I tried to download, I had a warning that it was a corrupt file. I recently also had email from my bank to say I had to verify my details or account would be closed. When I opened the email, I was told that it was from a well known Phishing site.. Are they linked do you think? What can I do?

Many thanks in advance.

My head is Wrecked now.. too late in the day. I will definitely sort it out tomorrow if nothing seems to be working by then- it said it had downloaded fine but I've had no notifications of cleaning things yet.

How do you handle this stuff?! It makes me curaazzzy! I have a million little tabs at the bottom of my screen.. it's a good job I don't have to do this often- I'll be sat here tomorrow morning writing this all down in a list and going through it like a brainless twit.. but I'll get there.. I so wish I'd paid attention in my IT lessons- it's like learning a new language!

No fear- by tomorrow I'll be fully in control of my tabs and ready to roll- I think! At least I'll be able to employ my brain!

Thanks again, chaps.. I appreciate it!!

Just laughing to myself that if I told any of my pals here that I'd taken self preservation advice from a wolf and a vampire; they'd be convinced I really HAVE lost it..

Cheers again- 12 Year old in Ridges?! Good GRief! Does that mean I can come drinking with you all and bring the twins? Lol.. in a few weeks the standards might have slipped enough to allow 7 year olds.. I AM kidding (see what I did there?)

See you all soon- and I promise I'll try not to bore you with any more questions- yet;)

Many AV programs will not continue with the install if they detect another product on your machine.

The best way is to have CD / downloaded file ready, uninstall through Control Panel, then restart machine.

You should then get a warning balloon in the system tray saying you are not protected, that helps to confirm you have removed it ok, you could also run something like www.ccleaner.com to remove any obsolete files.

.

Then install ne AV and let it update itself and perform a complete system scan and you should be fine.

.

50 cmc with ice = ok for you?

you do have to remove the other anti virus from your pc. just go to the panel control and click on add/remove icon which is in first row of icons. remove the other anti virus and then install Nod32.

Drac- you've lost me on that one!;)

Erm.. downloaded Security, Anti Virus and Agent Cleaner- but didn't want to remove Norton or AVG unless I have to? Do I need to? I haven't been told off yet..

Thanks again both, for your help - and I'm sorry I can't return the favour with the 200 cmc?! I'm guessing that's Vamp Speak for Dinner.. but one thing at a time or my small brain gets addled :P

I'm not sure where I got it from.. I just went on search engine and typed in 'free i'net security' Lol.. do I sound particularly thick tonight?!

If I do Nod32 on search engine, will I find it?

Something's definitely awry- I took your advice and upgraded my Firefox and laptop is still deadly slow.. Even wondering whether it's worth bringing it as I'm worried there's all sorts of nasties.. still, I have no money to steal, so for once that's a plus!

How you keeping anyway? Not out painting the town tonight?

use Nod32 thats better and light.

and which site did you download it from. maybe some data file is missing in it thats why it keeps popping up corrupt.
