well like i said the only way you will notice difference of LED vs regular LCD is when you watch things like Blue Ray, National Geography, HD sports.

If you want the TV and you are using it 80 % for watching News and regular DVD like my parents do, you better go with bigger LCD. Because it will be like you are using a machine gun to kill a mosquito, or a Ferrari in a race with bicycles ( overkill of technology )

There is no what TV is better, it is more what TV is better to my needs.

LED is also 1/3rd slimmer but i doubt that is of a huge concern to you.

Do yourself a favor and don't go for plasma... i compare plasma to haifa wehbi... good from far, far from good.. plus younger ones are always eager to please more ;)

I m planning to buy 42 inch LED..... so do u suggest me to go for LED instead of LCD or Plasma? Actually I am right now using an old TV.... so since I am upgrading it, I am not aware of either of the 3 .... !

Just doing some R&D before buying it.

It really depends on

1- What is it that you watch the most ( sports, blue ray DVD, 3D, etc )

2- Your Room Setup wrt to the TV and the light intensity

3- Your budget - i assume it is not an issue since you decided on LED already

Few things you have to concentrate on:

Frequency: i would go for 240 not 120, this is how many frames per second your TV can display. It makes a big difference when watching things like national geography or sports...Your resolution of picture quality depends on this.

Dynamic Contrast Ratio: minimum you should get is 3000000:1 ( this is the variation of colors between the darkest black and the whitest white) think of it as the spectrum of colors.

LG, Sonny, Samsung use the same board panel. So the technology is all the same. What varies are these attributes i wrote above.

I personally think the most cost effective with respect to quality is LG. I got myself a 42 inch, LG LED after very heavy research. For the same price i could have gotten a 47 or even 50 inch LCD but i believe i did a very wise decision of getting LED.

I've bought the LCD recently, and the quality is good... In Sony, the picture appears less vivid as compared to Samsung... If you're someone who watches movies and videos and stuff from a portable HDD, they have a feature where u can plug in ur HDD or USB device and enjoy watching videos in over 14 formats.. Do check though if this is available for all models.

The sound quality between most LEDs is marginal...

I'd highly recommend the Samsung purely because of the better quality of video and viewing experience..

And whatever U do, Don't buy from Lulu.. I had to follow up lotsa times to get a guy install my TV.. and finally, the guy from Techno Blue came...

But still, please research a lot before U plunge in.. coz in the end, its what U want..

Personally I don't see the point of buying an LED TV but opt for Samsung if you are buying one.
