I Doha Qatar safe for women?

Juday
By Juday

Just want to inquire about safety of women in Doha. Is it safe if you'll be working late and travel alone? What are some safety precautions you want to give or advice for working women especially those who stayed working til 7pm or 9pm.

As with anywhere in the world, you need to be on your guard and have some common sense. Stay in well lit areas at night, lock your doors, etc.

Where ever you go!!

There's no safe even you are a man or a woman.

If your destiny to have a car accident you cannot stop it!!! Unless you are always be alert!!

Because we cannot control the behaviour of every human being.

Yes In this Country you are Safe But not Totaly 100%

The only I can say Be open mineded and always aware

that's all

and we have excellent security men who even check sometimes when a person they have seen 50 times come in. I never lock my car and I leave windows and doors open.

I realize I am lucky.

But I happen to think that all of us are safe here and the biggest threat to safety is driving and the odd opportunist’s thief.

keep ur car locked when driving. a drunk man once tried to get in my car while i was stopped at the intersection. my guess is that he just needed a ride.

keep ur house windows and doors locked. too many robberies happening around town.

Well said - Tallg, Cynbob, PM, NotFromHere and Justmoi.

From an Asian woman's perspective sans bodyguard, it is GENERALLY safe.

The opera house of Qatar is quietly safe; It all depends on the ballerina wardrobe and the stage moves in the streets of Qatar.

you should treat Doha as you would any city in the World. I think we are for sure safer than we are in England.

But like anywhere else in the world you have to be aware there is the odd nutter.

There is crime and no it is not reported as much as it should be.

chadqa's right. Doha is no longer a safe place for us to live. We must all leave, immediately.

but then again, there is no such thing as perfectly safe anywhere.. so agree with tallg, never let your guard down...

Perfectly safe"???? in you face! who told you that??? maybe your new here or just blind with what is happening in your surroundings... try to open gulf times news saturday edition paper and direct your attention to the court news page im sure you will think again before you can say that Doha now a days is still safe to live!!!

I wasn't in this thread...

But agree with cynbob, and appreciate PM's and tallg's advice to be aware.

QLers often reply to this question by saying things like "It's safe" "It's very safe", "Safest place on earth"...

Again, a false sense of security.

Be aware of your surroundings, keep an eye on your possessions, lock your house/car.

Same as you would anywhere else.

Yes, I knew that she wasn't from the US. I guess I was addressing Najamss' post about having been in the US and feeling safer here.

My point is, bottom line, it doesn't matter where you are because no place is crime free.

I still stand by my post that not being informed about crimes here, in Doha, leads to a false sense of security.

The difference between here and the US is that here, in Doha, crimes are not written in the papers.

This is neglegence and a crime in itself.

This gives people a FALSE sense of security!

To assume that a place is perfectly safe is not being smart. Heed all safety advise given in this thread.

accuses a woman of "asking for attention" when she posts a very valid question. Women here get intimidated, stared at, propositioned and are generally cosidered inferior to men. You sir reflect the hypocracy which is rife and endemic. Shame on you, you owe the person and the females of Doha an apology

At least safer than any developed country like US or UK. I am not offending anybody but this is the fact. I been in both countries and I found this place more safer for women.
