THANKS BUDDY. Where there is a will there should be a way right. cheers. let me start from the middle as I know somewhat how to read, and the colloqial is almost different. I'll be checking out with the courses, if listening is not helping out. .. ha ha . thx

Hey good for you for wanting to learn it! The best way I recommend is to try to be around the language as much as possible. You will start picking up on certain words they say often and, while taking a course, you will start to put things together slowly. Listening to it is the very best way to start. If you take a course though, they usually teach Fus'ha the formal Arabic. I think the Qatar Fanar(?) center may teach the local dialect. It's that huge building in the souq area with a swirly tower. Even, I studied the formal Arabic and learned the different dialects as I was around them more. So, a class and being around it as much as possible just listening will be a great start. It is so intimidating at first when you start learning the alphabet and reading, but of course it will get easier :) If you are not interested in learning how to read it, just take a conversation class.

Try Fanar Center or even some of the colleges there. I have seen CHN University advertising Arabic classes as well. As a supplement, you could also order an Arabic lanaguage course to listen to. I met an American who has ordered the entire set of Rosetta Stone!
