Hi Friends,

I am an Indian, moving into Doha, Qatar by mid October. Can somebody please advice me on where to take good family accomodation ? Some of my friends advised me to take accomodation in a place called Old Airport Area. Are 2 or 3 BHK apartments available here ? Or small Villas ? What kind of rents should I expect ?

Also, what car should I be looking at (new) for a price of approximately QR 75000 to 85000 ?

I am looking for a peaceful and good life in Doha. Hope, this is a first step towards that.

Many thanks in advance,
QatarIndian.

Yes, i do live in Mataar Kadeem. The price for house varies depending upon the area & sometimes variation also depends on your real estate agent.

However, if you need my help, i can assist you with whom i got a house for a reasonable rent FYI.(Nothing is reasonable in doha, everything is expensive in here, but we are looking for the least one). Just PM me, i'll PM you the details. No hidden intentions, just i'll get a new friend...

I currently reside at the old airport area. Its compartively quite and comfortable and more importantly i have parking for my car (previously used to reside to Musharib/bayti 2). Even though you are close to the airport you do not hear the airplanes just the one off military fighter flying overhead. The rents are around 6,000 to 10,000 QR pm. My apt is in an Al-emadi bldg which is new and well maintained so it is a bit expensive. There are other area's like Muntaza, Najma which are other good areas to look out for.

This all depends once you are here and actually search for apts while your Company gives you temporary accomodation till you find one of your own.

Regarding your car, you can look for a Honda Accord, Mazda 6, Nissan Altima if it is saloon you are looking for and a Kia Sorento, Hyunda Tuscan if its a 4x4. All a personal choice.

In the old airport the most u will get is old buildings, new buildings in the old airport are all going 2 companies....And yes, to a nu building you would need more, about 11,000 QR for the 3 u r totally right.

I think you need to change your figures there... a 2 bedroom apt. in a new bldg. is nothing less that QAR 7000 now... and you're talkin bout a 3 bedroon apt. for that much.... blahhh!!!

2 - 3 bedroom apt in the old airport area (Matar Kadeem) goes for anywhere between QAR 7000 - 12000 depending on whether it's furnished or not.

Villas range from QAR 15000 - 18000 or maybe more...

So depending on you package, you can decide where you wanna stay. There are many other nice areas to live in as well, but the rents are kinda the same.

Ragarding your car... you can try the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Dodge Charger, Chevy... depends on what car you want.. all of them fall into that bracket...(depending on the options)

I've been living in the Old airport area for 20 years, great place, lots of stuff around, usually the rent is about each room for 2000, so lets say 3 bedrooms u expect about 6000-8000QR maximum.

Cheers and hope u enjoy ur stay
