Ace...when going to the phil embassy to have your NBI authenticated be sure to bring with you the translated one also as this needs to be stamped by the phil embassy too. You will only need to pay 100QR for the stamp for both the original NBI clearance and for the translated one

you may want to know more info by typing POLICE CLEARANCE in the search tab. that's what i did before i filed my application. some QL members were very helpful and posted the site maps so it was less hassle for me and i was able to plan ahead my "journey". the only hassle i encountered were the traffic and the waiting times but otherwise it was a breeze.

by the way, somebody in QL had posted that we should go through the Chamber of Commerce. but when i reached the MOFA-Attestation Section, i was informed by the lady staff that it's not necessary. well better check this out to keep your "journey" shorter.

H! ace... i have just finished filing my application for Police clearance yesterday (also for Canada immigration)so i think i can help you on this. i got these tips from good helpful people of QL so im sharing this to you too. so here's how:

1. have your recent NBI (meaning date is still valid) translated to Arabic. I recommend the Asia translation services in Sofitel hotel (first floor). this is QR40.

2. after you get the translated version, make sure to have a photocopy of it. Go to CHAMBER OF COMMERCE in Muntaza and have it authenticated there. this is QR50.

Location:

From Ramada Signal going to airport road, go right at the Muntaza signal (2nd signal from ramada). Take the first service road and you will see the bldg of Chamber of commerce to your right.

3. Go to PHIL. EMBASSY and have your NBI authenticated. this is QR100.

4. Go to MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS - ATTESTATION SECTION. Location is at the back of Al Bustan Hotel near the Old Qatar Museum. Bring your ATM card for the payment.

Location:

if you come from corniche going to souq, when u reach the Al Fardan signal, take left, go straight to the next round about then make a u-turn. to your right you will see hotels and one of them is Al Bustan. take the small road to ur right before you reach Al Bustan hotel. you will find the attestation bldg at the back.

5. Go to CID Office, Salwa Road and file your application. Bring with you the ff:

- your authenticated NBI clearance

- passport & passport photocopy

- 2 ID pictures

- QID

- signed application form

- ATM card for payment.

BE THERE BEFORE 11AM if you go during Ramadan because if you come later than 11:30, noone will entertain you there.

6. wait for 2 weeks to check availability of your Police clearance.

THESE STEPS IS APPLICABLE FOR POLICE CLEARANCE APPLICATION FOR CANADA IMMIGRATION ONLY AS PER MY EXPERIENCE AS OF THIS WEEK (SEPT 8-11, 2008). For job related purposes, there may be some procedures and requirements necessary.

TWO CHOICES;

1) Ask your employer for the procedure because you will be needing a letter from them regarding your request and to be presented to the police station on your municipality or the head office.

2) If you do not want your employer to be involve, ask from an Arabic English Speaking friend who can help if you decided to go to the police station or let him inquire by calling them first, so you won't waste your time or money.

Hope my opinion helps.

GoodLuck.
