I wanted to know is it worthwhile getting a domain name with a qatar extension for example www.myname.com.qa
Also is it easy? has anyone experienced this before, and is it regualted?

yes you need a company registration or trademark registration to get .NET.QA and .COM.QA domains.
bu I think .QA is open for all, please try www.w3qatar.com

To be registered you need to have an office.

yea i tried godaddy.com but they didnt do .qa saw some info on qtel but the process looks daunting and very intricate, hence though of getting a godaddy account.

godaddy does not offer .com.qa domians. You could register a domain with QTEL. The details are here http://www.qtel.com.qa/MyTools.do
I personally wont suggest getting a .qa
domain address as over all people look
more towards .com and .net.....
