Does anyone know how to trace or disable a stolen mobile phone? My car has been Stolen Last thursday and still no news from the police, but apparently my Nokia N95 was inside the car. And Am wondering if they can do it here i know some other country they can, because of the serial number of your cphone. Does anyone tried it yet? My GSM Sim card has been suspended from qtel. Pls. help, maybe this will be the lead as well to find my stolen car.

But have you gone onto the MOI website and put in your car reg number to see if there are any outstanding traffic violations since the car was stolen?

This should then show the area where it took place and hopefully a photo of the person driving it.

I am sure the Police have already thought of this but it maybe worth trying.

Good luck & hope you find your car soon.

ok this is what happen....

On Thursday 6 Dec 2007 our new Honda CRV was stolen from outside our son's Nursery School (Elder Tree Nursery), near 'The Mall' roundabout. I was dropping our 2 year old son, had left the car running (as many parents do), came back after 2 minutes and the car had vanished. The school does have a CCTV camera outside the front and side of the nursery, but apparently it does not record anything.

Even though my mobile phone was still in the car, and was able to be called for the first hour, there was little the police could do, but file form and wait. We have driven all over Qatar hoping to find the car (our friends too), but no news.

The car was fully loaded with Kiddie-stuff,including two childrens car seats (our Daugther is One, and Jack Two), as well as two strollers and several toys/nappies etc.It would have been obvious to the THEIF that the car was used as a children-ferry.

We have been living in and residents of Qatar for more than 5 years, and have never come across anything like this before. We believed that Qatar was a safe place. We learn an EXPENSIVE lesson.

The car registration is 38279, and is a 2007 model Honda CRV, Glacier blue Metallic (blue-gray) color. The back windows are tinted for the kids.To alert all parents or guardians dropping kids at school, do not Leave the car / leave the car Running - ANYWHERE!

Please let other parents know about this, so the same does not happen to them. And if anyone should find our car, please contact us:

Much appreciated and thank you,

Kevin and Leah

I also have the same scenario although my mobile is a low end compare to what leahfarrow mobile but what i am after is my contact numbers stored in my phone. It was lost last december 06 at Vellaggio Mall Food Court. My mobile phone was purchased in the philippines in one of my officemates so the receipt is not available but I have the scan copy of the box containing IMEI. Would this suffice to be able to avail police help?

yes, bring the receipt and the box (here I think you can get the serial number of your phone)of the phone to the police nearby your house and they will make report and they will work with Q-Tel to catch the bad guy. If he is stupid enough to use it here in Doha, I am sure Q-Tel and Police can track your phone. And the Police will contact you once the bad guy got cought. Please do this. As I know from my personal experience this two Authorities are working together in the similiar cases.

i think the imei number has to do something with it. check the cell phone box you will find 3 small sticker peel one out and take that with the invoice receipt of that cell phone give it to the police. because i heard some where when a person is making call the cell imei number goes along with the call.and that way the thief can be caught too. similar several cases in alsadd has happened when some one is trying to sell out a cell phone the shopkeeper does ask him for the papers.
