How to Correct Traffic Violations in Qatar - Lessons Learned
Hi everyone,
So recently I've gotten a traffic violation in Doha. I'm in the process of correcting it, because its is a mistake. The violation is for Running a Red Light. I know I haven't done such thing so I'm in the process of getting it corrected.
Here are some things that I've learned
1) When you first enter the Traffic Department grab a queue ticket from the Officers sitting in the center island. Usually a queuing ticket with the tab A on it. If you want to admit guilt you just pay the fine once called. Now if you want to dispute the charge, you must ask the lady for a print out of you and the car. It's usually a picture of you speeding or running a light or something like that. After you get a print out you must come back at a different time unless you are there in a Tuesday Morning 6AM-8AM
2) You can only dispute traffic violations on Tuesday Mornings from 6AM-8AM (Show up a little later than 6AM because it take them time to get ready), You will ask for a queuing ticket with counters B.
3) If the vehicle belongs to your company, you must have paperwork such as the Registration, Insurance , and letter from your company saying you can drive the car, Qatar ID, and Qatar Drivers licence (Translated in Arabic)
4) THIS IS THE BIG ONE. You CANNOT get your violation corrected UNTIL your Vehicle Registration is EXPIRED. (This can cause a big problem for some of us that are only here on contract with less time than the Vehicle's Registration) I'm going to be stuck paying the fee, BECAUSE no one will correct the violation until the Vehicle Registration is expired next year! SEPT 16, 2016 to be exact.
Number 3 is very important, because no one will even help you if this vechile registration is not expired. SO what does this mean for you? If your company has a policy that you must pay all fines, and close all bank accounts before being granted an EXIT Permit, it just means you got robbed. In my case that's 6000Qar or 1600 USD.
If anyone has any ideas on how to get my violation correct I'm opened for suggestion. Anyways hope I didn't discourage anyone from disputing their traffic fines, I'm sure if you're white, or female, you can get it corrected, but if you're brown or Asian like a major of us; good luck hahah.
Peace.

thanks for sharing though
hmm one more disappointment
Great information shared. Thank you so much for taking the time to write this post so that others can benefit ;)
As I understand, when you want to transfer the ownership, all the fines has to be settled. May be you could get your violation corrected.
