I met with a car accident yesterday which involved my car and a karwa taxi. The taxi driver accepted his fault and the traffic police gave me a paper. Should i go now to the insurance company first or directly to the car service center? Please guide me

Thank you

While there is no time frame, I suggest you get this done immediately. This is because some insurance companies look for ways to slip out of their responsibilities. It would be to your advantage to get them involved as soon as possible. It should not take long at the insurance company and you may finish your work within 30 minutes after you reach their office. I think the police report is valid for one month from the date of issue.

Go to the insurance company first with your car and the police report. They will take photographs of the damage. They will then give you a paper from their company stating the details of the workshop where you could get the car repaired. Go to that workshop with the paper from the insurance company. They will take you car and give you a tentative date when the repairs wiould get completed. Keep following up with the workshop people as they usually do not meet their commitment on the delivery.
