help me choose a PRO DIGITAL CAMERA
By newbeginnings07 •
i'm planning to buy a good professional digital camera but i'm really clueless on which one is the best because of the many choices out there in the market. one of my friends told me to buy the Canon EOS, the other one told me Nikon is really good. but i want to ask opinion from people who really knows cameras based from their experience. thanks so much!!!
Go for Nikon D3, that is a great Professional DSLR, I got the previous Model the D2Xs and are really happy with it. The downside is that is it heavy due to the Magnesium Body Construction which makes it sturdy compared to more Amateur DSLR's which are made of plastics and cheaper Alloys.
thanks for all the comments and suggestions guys. i still haven't bought one yet (too busy with work). to answer some of the queries; i'm not really planning on pursuing photography. i'm not making a big deal out of it, but i'd love love love to take pictures of beautiful countries and be able to treasure them forever that's why i'd like to purchase a good camera. i'm not a pro or planning on becoming one, i'm just an ordinary person who wants to capture beautiful moments and as i've said picturesque places.
thanks again for all the suggestions. i'm really considering some of them before buying one. :)
Take advantage of the sales at the Salam, where you can find both Cannon and Nickon

I agree with Roots. Visit the site and decide.
If you want a PRO camera (which I seriously doubt) you will want something like a Canon EOS 1D or 5D mark II with full frame sensor. You are looking at QR15,000+ for a basic body/lens setup.
However I guess what you really mean is a DSLR camera, and for that the EOS 450D will suit you fine.
Logicsays is also correct, that you will be investing with a DSLR. They are certainly not as 'disposable as a P+S.
rrsendiong - I disagree strongly! Canon lenses are acknowledge as some of the best in the world, especially the L lenses - look at a sporting event ... all those WHITE lenses are Canon :o)
As a beginner to DSLR I doubt very much 51 focus points are going to be of any use, And even with the 13 on my 5D2 I still focus on the centre and recompose ;o)

It doesn't matter if it's nikon or canon...what matters is "What is your objective in photography". Is it landscape photography? Portraiture? Macro? Sports or Outdoor activities? If you can tell which of those is your path, then it would be easier to give suggestion. Landscape photograpy needs a wide angle lens, 17-85mm with IS USM for Canon or the like in Nikon is the best choice for amateurs. Portraiture under low light, get a Prime 50mm f/1.8 or f/1.4 if you have the budget. It will give you those "magazine" look of photography where the subject is in focus while the background is in blur. Macro, go for 100mm Macro f/2.8 to get that close up picture of the flower. Sports or outdoor, a 70-200mm f/4 or the "L" will give you the "professional look", which is also a great walk-around lens. Photography is not about asking people what to buy in general...it's about asking yourself what you want to pursue, and ask people more info about it.
just my 2 cents...
It's not because things are difficult that we don't dare, it's because we don't dare that makes things difficult!
Hello,
Check this website. This is the best review/comparison website for cameras.

Before purchasing anything, I normally do a search in Amazon.com and read the reviews. It always helps.
Cheers
Nikkon D90 now available in Carrefour, City Centre QR 6,500/-
With VR kit.
I would suggest you to go for Canon because Canon has a better line up of Lenses with varieties suitable for occassions and type of photography. I am currently using a Canon EOS 5D and it is awesome. Previously I was using Canon EOS 300D, then Canon EOS 30D and now Canon EOS 5D.
Nikon lenses are very expensive compared to an equivalent Canon Lens.
Please go for Canon EOS 450D(Also known as Rebel XSi)with EF-S 17-85mm with Image stabilizer.
I was just like you when I bought my first DSLR. First thing you should know is that, Nikon specializes in lenses while Canon specializes in cameras. Canon used to be mounted with a Nikkor lens until Nikon made their first camera back in the 40's. Good investment is on the lenses. 2 or 3 years, you would need to replace your camera but your lens will be with you as long as you still loves photography. I could not comment on Canon cameras since I am a Nikon user ever since. If you go with Nikon, I would suggest you choose the D300 especially if you go for sports photography. No other cameras (Canon, Oly, Sony, etc.) offers 51 Area Focus other than D300. D90 is nice, because it has Video capability, but who needs it?
In addition, master yourself on Photoshop CS4 as post processing software.
i advice u canon eos 450D its the best in market comparing to prices
im getting gr8 pics and effects using it :)

If you intend to buy a Nikon DSLR go for Nikon D90 with a 18-200mm VR lens (this is a one for all lens) and for Canon go for Canon EOS 50D with 18-200 IS lens (cost around $1600 in Ebay). Their is also an Olympus Camera e520 bundled with 18-180mm (cost around US$900 in Ebay) which is cheaper but the image quality is superb.
If you need more info, please PM so I can help you decide which DSLR you buy.
Cheers....

thanks so much guys. i really am very grateful for the comments/advice. i'm about to fly to europe this march (and the whole world after that; i'm a cabin attendant) and i would like to treasure the moments. i only have a 12megapixels fuji finepix fd and it's not enough. i understand that having a pro camera is such an investment, that risk i'm willing to take because i know it'll be worth it. thanks again.
'looking forward for more suggestions :)
Best Cameras are Canon and Nikon, he told me if you have not yet boaght your camera go for Canon as in his view it is much better than Nikon, he used to have a full set of Nikons and switched to Canon.
Remember when you are buying a SLR, you are entering in a marriage relationship with committments, i.e. lenses, flashes, accessories and these all are investments related to the camera so it is not easy to decide later to change .. so be carefull
I have the canon EOS450 and I am getting great photos.
hope this helps
"The best way to predict the future is to create it".
well the only thing I can tell you that the best brands are Cannon and Nikon.

Nikon D90
12 MP DX, 4.5 FPS, 3" LCD 720p/24 Video,
$899 (899€)
The Nikon D90 is Nikon's newest and smartest DSLR. It has the same or better technical image quality as the D300.
The D90 is newer and better than the D300, for a fraction of the price.
The D90 is super easy to use.
In daylight, the D90 renders images identical to the $5,000 Nikon D3. Of course the D3 shoots faster for sports, but the images are as good, the rear LCD is identical, and the D90 has a few new convenience features that weren't invented back when the D3 came out.
