Dear Ql Members...

A friend of mine suffering from Gastric problem. He recently visted a private doctor but he was not satisfied as the doctor's response was not all that good. Din't mention the symptoms or precautions to be taken or wheather to avoid any particular food or to avoid smoking...

I would be thankful if someone could suggest their views or give some good advice so that i could pass it on to him..

Thanks

I am not MD! I was talking about JD!

By sander• 5 Dec 2009 13:53

I really dont get it...why is everyone here suddenly an MD???we sure do love to talk dont we?..and why hasnt anyone said" tell your friend if he is not happy with that doctor to go see another one"? or at least gave recommendations of a good doctor!!!

I am really surprised of the way this topic started and shocked by the loads of answers that are giving medical advice without even knowing what the problem is not to mention being MD.

I guess everyone is happy pretending to help and be social and no one is complaining and I also recon I am the party crasher

And in the corner of my mind....I celebrated glory

you have to mention if it is hypo, epi, left or right as well as the character of pain...

there are different types of gastric problems. i have gastroenteritis. you can try these:

+ Avoid excess milk. If any of the following foods are increasing your symptoms or distress, decrease their consumption or avoid them altogether: caffeine (coffee, chocolate, colas, tea), fried or fatty food, alcohol and mint. Sometimes, symptoms may also be exacerbated by tomatoes, citrus fruit, other acidic food, and food that is highly spiced .

+ Avoid smoking; nicotine stimulates acid reflux in the esophagus.

+ Eat smaller meals, with occasional snacks if you must.

+ Avoid Aspirin and anti- inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen. If you need pain relief, try acetaminophen (Tylenol) instead.

+ Raise the head of your bed six inches or so by propping up the legs of the bed with blocks; this will reduce reflux problems while you sleep.

+ Avoid eating right before going to bed.

+ Avoid clothes that fit tightly around the waist or abdomen.

+ If you are overweight, try to lose a few pounds! Excess weight can put pressure on the stomach which increases the risk of reflux

i found this by browsing the net.. these are also similar to the ones my doctor told me.

the first method is tried and tested for me. eating citrus foods will make it worst.. :)

hope it helps!

if he doesn't want to change anything in his life style , there's this miracle pill...i'm using it myself...it's called "pariet" , you can only find the 20mg in qatar, it has 14 pills for 104 Q.R it works like magic

in lebanon we have also the 10mg which contains 28 pills for the same price ,it also works like magic :D

one pill before sleep...
