Fire alarms
Can anyone tell me were we stand regarding fire alarms and smoke alarms.
In our building there are fire alarms installed but these are turned of as they kept going off.
Also we have smoke detectors in our apartments but they aren't working either it doesnt look as if they are connected.
If there happened to be a fire in the evening we wouldnt stand a chance.
we wud like to inform u dat we r lukin into da issue n wil inform u acordingly.
urs truly,
nfpa regulation book
Not sure of rules for rented accomodation. Hotels it is a requirement and needs a civil defence inspection and (annual?) certificate.
If you want to feel safe I'd suggest you get yourself a few battery operated detectors.

Poor maintenance……. your Landlord doesn’t want to spend money on maintenance

Its a 500 pages manual, but normally for a small companies with less than 5 workers some restrictions apply.
Also depends on the structure and exit ways in the facility, you can normally contact your fire department for assistance I dont really know if that applies in Qatar Hahahaha.
Exit ways should be marked with a luminare sign in case of fire (Smoke) or that power goes off.
Fire extenguishers inside the office normally are type abc 15 Pounds.
I can do the risk assessment for you I just need the drawings.
The roof is on fire...
The Venezuelan Sensation!!!
The firefighting system should be in an operational state for obvious reasons.
I suggest that you write to your landlord noting down your observations and how the non-operational state is not only a safety hazzard for all occupants but does not meet the local civil defense regulations. Request that they bring in a team to inspect the entire system to put it in working state and ask for return data in the same in writing.
I believe it is a requirement where more than a certain number of people are employed.
