Expat discrimination & unjustice

Hi
I was staying in apartment whose owner is local Qatari person. There was a contract signed which say if I quit before tenure end, 1 month notice has to be given. I served one month notice and now the owner has asked me to vacate the flat by first of next month and also he will not return back security cash deposited which is QAR 5,500/-.
This is quite embarrassing and disgusting and he has told me to do whatever I can, go to court, file case etc but he will not return back my money. This is so annoying and frustrating with no where to go. I am losing my money which is hard earned just because it is their country and they feel like doing whatever.
Is there any law and order for them too?
Thanks
well there is no damage caused to flat.................but he says clearly that I will not return money back as I have to search for new tenant and pay some money to brokers as well.......................all that bullshit excuses............
these security cheques are misinterpreted here in Qatar. Normally, they shouldn't have been deposited in the first place, but have only been kept in case some damage is caused.
In Canada they deposit the cheque for the last month rent, and once you vacant the property, they reimburse the interest, earned during this time (it could be 1 year, 2 years, 3 years, etc.).
Security cheque is kept on hold, and later returned to the tenant if no danage caused.
I would say, go to the rent dispute court...
at least check with them what are your options..
I've visited many compounds in a view to re-locate my family to them, I've come to a conclusion if you are in company accomodation stay where you are, you are much better off financially and are much more secure when it comes to rent increases and other negatives that go with renting privately.
Of course, one must realize, that some landlords may try to use any reason or excuse(real or implied) to keep that money.
As said above the money is for damages or any bills left unpaid. If you have damaged the apartment the landlord may keep some or all of the deposit depending.
I feel for you! We had a villa in 2009 and my husband's contract got suspended. We gave him 3 months notice plus a letter from his employer explaining the situation.
We even left behind the garden set for the next tenants.
We only got half of our deposit back. His reason was that we planted trees and grass and he had to take it out and replace the paving.
We drove by the other day and guess what? The trees still there, so guess the grass too!
Just take the contract to the court and file a case against him. Later he would be left without any choice. So go ahead
If you made no damages, he has to pay you back...
Well, that money is for damages caused by the tenant...did you cause any damages to the flat?
if you have the contract take it to the rent dispute court...
