Emirates Airlines - Can somebody help???

I used to know that emirates airlines allowed 40 Kg of baggage allowance for doha to dhaka. As i wanted to take a look at the Dubai airport i booked a ticket for me on this airlines.

Suddenly as i was not sure about the baggage allowance i called emirates airlines & checked their website also. both says they allow 30 Kg. Now my baggage is already around 40 Kg and my ticket has already been confirmed. is there anyway i can extend 30 kg to 40 kg without paying the charge??

is there anyone who can help me with a good answer?? All your good advices are appreciated.

dear,

as mentioned above all major airlines follow the baggage regulations such as:

allowance of

20kgs for economy

30kgs for business

and

40kgs for first class

there is addition 10-15kgs allowance if you are Silver/Gold Member for frequent flyer programs, depending upon the airlines.

handcarry, most airlines allow 7Kgs.

Bur in practice, its all depending upon the flight route and these rules are being bend in favor of airline revenue generations etc.

I have seen qatar airways india/pakistan/bangladesh routes ppl taking even 60Kgs without charge. So its all very much depends on the route and the mood of the check-in counter manager.

if ur travelling agencies says they will allow, Yes they will .. but don't just count on it. your ticket will be imprinted 20kgs only.

just to be on the safe side why don't you call the emirates airlines office and find out directly from them; I guess this would be better that relying on the agent (I'm not implyig is a bad agent!!!)

Regards!!

sakib12345....my understanding is that 2 pieces each not exceeding 23 kgs. is applicable for transatlantic flights. On all other flights it is limited to 20 kgs. in respect of Economy class travel. Anyways, since you are planning to cancel emirates and book through Qatar airways better to call them and ask them the allowance for your sector.

If you are travelling fisrt class 40 Kgs. for check in baggage on Qatar Airways is OK. However, if you are travelling Economy Class I think its 20 kgs. for check in baggage and 7 Kgs. of hand baggage.

then its better i cancel the flight. i already got an information that if i cancel and book a ticket on Qatar airways i will have to pay Qrs 200 additional. Its better paying Qrs 200 additional then paying Qrs 550 @ 55/kg. Qatar airways allows 40 kg.thats what i found on their site.I m a 1st tym traveler from Qatar

thank u for ur words.

My friend as far as I know...there is no chance ..if they said 30 then will be 30!! I had this experience with them before and you must follow their rules.

Have a nice flight!
