Driving License Exchange

I am a US citizen having US driving license and 6 more months of valid Australian driver's license. Since they don't have DL exchange process for US citizen's, can I use my Aussie DL for exchange? Have US passport but Aussie license, would that be an issue? Also, what kind of background checks are performed on Exchanged driver's license (i.e. do they contact Aussie's to check my driver's license is valid??) as I left Aus 2 years ago. Any insights are helpful....
I forgot to mention, it will take you 15 minutes or so to get your Aussie license to Qatar DL.
You should be able to exchange your Australian Driver's license to the Qatar DL, just go to Madinat Khalifa Traffic dept. get the Sudanese typist to help you out, he will ask for a small fee to connect all the dots in Arabic and also get the documents typed. It will cost you around QR300 to 400 which includes the fee for the Sudanese Gentleman's service and drivers license.
My dear friend, it is simple. Just go to Madina Khalifa police station, where issuing new and exchange, temporary licence for expat. Hope you can get your Qatar DL if your country DL valid or otherwise you can get 3 months temporary QDL. Just go to that place and check with local staffs who open shops near the station like typing and translating shops with sudan nationalities. I am sure they will guide you to get your DL soon. GOOD LUCK.
