Doha Compounds

Hi All

I have been in Doha for two weeks and my wife and baby plan so move out as soon as I have found somewhere suitable to live, which is proving very difficult! My main problems are that a) I work on the south side of the city between al wakra and mesaieed b) we want to live in a nice compound with all the amenities but the villas are really expensive and there arent many compounds with apartments from what I can see, and c) availability of either villas or apartments in nice compounds is non existent!

I have considered a west bay apartment but I am reluctant to travel that far to work. I have considered Al Waab but the compound villas are pricey and there doesnt appear to be many apartments. I have considered Al Wakra as the compound villas are affordable and its close to my work, but Im not sure if it would suit my wife as there doesnt appear to be many western expats there, which would be important for her social life. I have also looked at Old Airport area but again pricey compound villas, no compound apartments, no availability and no western expats.

I am at a total loss as to what to do! Our budget is around 12k, but up to 15k if it was worth the extra. A longer commute may also be ok if we found a great place to live, but around the pearl area would be too far.

Any suggestions would be most welcome!

Check Ain Khaled Gate Compound (At Ain Khaled area near Al Waab), I lived there for 2 years and it's very good, with lots of facilities (3 pools, gym, club house, supermarket, dry clean, restaurant/cafe, kids areas, tennis court.....etc) and apartments are available within your budget (http://www.regencygroupq.com/ain-khalid-gate.html) - availability is usually limited so hope you find one.

The compound belongs to "www.alasmakhrealestate.com" and they own lots of other compounds as well - you can check with them, they have lots of sales reps who can find you something. Best of Luck.
