Hello everybody
I happen to meet Ethiopans living here in Qatar the other day. It was very sad for me to know that they are not treated well by the govt.
They even told me that they are obliged to show their ID for any local man who is suspected of them. I know the Ethiopian community in the United States, the most respected community and memebers do not associate themselves with any kind of illegal activities.
so, why is it different here? can anyone brief me on this issue. am a social science student interested on social matters
Tank you

If you come Gulf countries the Ethiopian Image is different. when you see the Eth. People lives in USA, most of them are comes out from well to do family, some of them going by DV-lottery. So they trying to get more and at least the completed 12Standards. but when u come to GCC Countries most of them come from low financial background family. so thy support many family. but when u come here the sponsors(Local People) think thy r only human beings, and treating housemaid and driver as slave. The Ethiopians such kind of harassment makes them unconformable; thy respect people and thy expect such respect too. because of that thy will face many problems and thy inforce to be runaway. then the next life after that a bit difficult, and to get money thy use many many ways.

if you stop and think. thy come to support family, going back empty hand, that no one accept. so thy inforce to do un-law things; Start from living in the country without RP. thy moves watching their footsteps not to get caught, looking opportunity getting money, and if thy found no mercy think of harm the other person.

And also specially in Qatar there is no Diplomatic Relationship, even there, no meaning the Eth. Gov not protect his people.

my friend to know ethiopian please visit eth. and you will know what kind of people thy r.

thanks being share Eth life.

The problem is that many Ethiopians "buy their visa" to come here. They think this in such a way they are free to work anywhere at anytime. Their sponsors usualy report to the police that they are "run aways", so as to clear their responsibility.

They walk around without a passport, alot of them also do not know who their sponsors are. They only know the "middle man" that got them here.

Because most of the Ethiopians who come here are domestic helpers, they are not aware of how critical their legal status is.
