Certified copy of wedding certificate from Sharia Court
Hello everyone,
Just after my marriage in the Sharia Court here in Doha, I have been delivered a certified copy of my wedding certificate, which I translated and stamped from the competent Qatari authorities in order to register my wedding at my embassy in Qatar.
However, as the certified copy was dated more than 6 months ago, the embassy requested a new, more recent certified copy that will also need to be translated, stampted, etc.
As there is a stamp from the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the original, I heard from a friend that a new certified copy will not be delivered anymore.
Did you face or know someone who faced a similar situation? Can you please advise me on how I can get a new certified copy of my wedding certificate?
Thanks in advance
Frankly, I believe this is strange unless there exists any rule in your government that does not allow documents over six months old to be accepted. Once a certificate gets issued by any authority, it stays as it is throughout one's life. I doubt you will be able to get hold of another certified copy from the Qatari government. Try explaining things to some senior officer at your embassy and hopefully he may understand. Usually, people at embassies are cooperative and helpful especially to their own nationals.
