CBQ free for life credit card

Got a phone call from a CBQ customer service agent saying he would like to offer me a free credit card for life as my account is in good health and I work for Qatar Foundation. I said I was interested in this offer as I don't have a CC over here and don't want to pay charges. He mentioned the Diners Club package and that I could go to any branch and take it out. I looked online where there it also claimed to offer a free for life card but with a 500 Qr renewal fee. Visited my branch and they knew of no free for life cards. Wrote to customer services and they said you can take out the card but have to write to them to get the renewal fee removed and they obviously don't have to agree to request.

So just out of interest has anyone else had a similar call making false claims or manage to take out a free for life credit card with CBQ?

I have those free for life credit cards from CBQ (Diners and Visa) meaning no annual membership fee, no renewal fee for life.

But they stopped that program end of 2006. And now, if I tie it to another program (like getting Qmiles if I tie it with QA), I will lose that "free for life" privilege.
