Car Reregistration with Small dent ?

Hello Everyone

I need to get my car re-registered including a technical inspection. I have a small dent on the bonnet of the car where someone hit me a few weeks ago. (I have atatched a similar picture to show you the damage).

A) Can i get the car inspected and passed with this dent?

B) If not, who can fix this for me without police report.
The car is in my mothers name who is away and the traffic police need her to be present to get a report apparantly. Is this true?

PS I do have her ID card with me, if that helps.

Your advice and help greatly appreciated :)

Hello Everyone

Update!

So the car did NOT pass because of the damage on the front. I had to go get a police certificate and then it could be passed. Now i need to go to my insurance to see whether they will pay to fix the damage.

I am with Al khaleej Insurance, does anyone know where I need to go?

Thanks in advance :)

THANKS ALL FOR YOUR THOUGHTS AND INPUT!

I get the feeling it will not pass so if i want to try and get in repaired i need:

-Police certificate (Cant i get this with the ID of the owner, owner not in person?)

- Book appointment to get it fixed

- Inspection with police certificate

- Then re-register with inspection document

Is this correct?

I already got my insurance renewed 3 weeks ago before the dent happened, will this be an issue?

im sure a lot of us newcomers have the same Question/

why dont you try it and post back on whether it passed or not?, go a little before your expiry date if it fails get it fixed if it passes please post back.

LP from what info i have its not about cosmetic appeal of the car, for a small dent (maybe self inflicted) the car will pass technical but it will fail legal because they dont khow whether it is actually self inflicted or you bumped into someone elses car while say parking ....in which case you are legally liable to the other car owner.

Not that fixing it solves the problem with the other owner or brings accountability , but thats the logic used

FA nowadays they check the registration first n then renew insurance

LP that's the rule period. With dents technical inspection fail. No police report no repair.

Why is it then, Insurance Company never Inspected my car prior to Renewing the Insurance Policy...

I don't think it would be any issue for you, When it comes to Clearing Technical Inspection, My Car had a Dent on the Trunk, They Failed me, & went to the Traffic Police Rep at the Wakra Inspection Center, Got it cleared in an Instant...

Just go for registration/ inspection and seek police advise..then you do exactly what he requires you.

I think the "technical" (not cosmetical) inspection in Qatar is a farce!

So, if you have a dent in the door, the door won't function anymore?

if it was for looks with that one eye they wont allow u to pass for the inspection ;)

u need to fix the dent , before inspection and u will need a police report , get things legally dont instead of calling for trouble .

What do they check? The looks or the functions?

Seriously, is it a security issue?

So, what now? Fix it or not? You guys are hilarious in giving assumptions.

I went to police and got a report for a car registered in my husband's name without any problem. Didn't even take his ID. You will need that fixed as it definitely will not pass. My dent was much smaller and less noticable and I had to have it fixed before registering. GOod luck.
