Car Inspection advice

I went this morning to renew my car registration and discovered it was more than three years old. So now I have to take it for inspection. The thought of going to the industrial area was too much, so I googled Qatar Technical Inspection Service and discovered this service -

Tawseel Service:

New Tawseel service is milestone for QTIC in business excellence by striving to exceed the expectations of customers, rather than just meeting their requirements. Tawseel Service is carried out based on the customer requirement. Collecting the vehicle from the customer’s place and returning back to the same place after completing the inspection formalities and renewing insurance and registration documents (ISTIMARA) in Head Quarter.

To obtain Tawseel service customer can request a service call (direct line) for our service coordinator (Ph: 4607266) with basic information

So tomorrow at 9am they will collect my car, take it for inspection, renew my registration and return the car to my office.

The costs are:

Inspection QR75
Registration QR100
Pick up/Delivery Service QR150

Hope this is of help.

is this service still available? I phone several time but there was no answers...

is there any other runner who can do the car inspection/insurance/registration? I don't want to go through the hassle... which I have had enough from the driving license experience.

Guys,

Got a question the subject and wondering if anybode can help answer the question. The 3 years period, when does it start ? Does it start from the model of the car or when it was first registered/bought from the dealer ? I have a car which is 2007 model but bought and first registered in January 2008. Will I need technical inspection in January 2010 or still get another year (if it's based on first registration) w/o inspection ? Thanks in advance for any helpful answer.

Legal Requirements will be dealt by Traffic Police. You need prior approval from the Traffic police to have tinted windows.

may i ask, how did you resolve the LEGAL requirements? like the scratches on the paint?

and other way around, my car has no tinted glass, if i want my car to have tinted glass in rear window? how should i ask for that changes? should i declare to QTIC that i want it to have that, or in the registration already? thanks..

So carrying on from my original post.

Regarding insurance, it was due to expire in April, so I went on Sunday to QIC and renewed it for another year running on from the expiry date. They wanted a 5% premium but went down to 4.5%. Not a big saving, but who pays the first quote in Doha !

On Monday the driver from QTIC called at 9am to say he was 5 minutes away, and true to his word he arrived within the 5 minutes. He checked the paperwork - Insurance and current registration card. He then did a quick look over the car, checked the fire ext. and commented on the tinted windows, he asked if they had been done after I bought the car, but I showed him they are factory fitted and he said it was okay. He left with car at 9.30. At 11am I get a call from him, I dread the worse! but he was calling to say he was back and all ok.

I don't think I could have done all this in such a short time on my own. It was a terrific service, so now I'm legal for another year. All for QR150.

Have to admit, in Doha, when it works, it works !!

For their contact details google AAA Qatar.

oes it mean that before they pick-up your car, insurance should be renewed already? Because you can not register it without being insured, right? In the breakdown listed by Paul, no insurance premium. Am I missing something?

1. Went There this morning with a prior appointment at xx.am and collected the necessary papers from the offfice.

2. I was asked to bring the the car to the front of the queue by passing about 15 cars already there.

3. The guy next on the queue made noice with the security & blocked the path of my car.

4. Security hurdled the Guy to the onsite police post and he came back with his tail between his legs.

5. Inspection completed and results.

TECHNICAL INSPECTION - FAILED (Safety pin is missing from the Fire Extiguisher)

LEGAL REQUIREMENTS - FAILED (Scrathes on the Paint, Tinted Glass around the Rear Windows)

Remadies - Paid QR 55.00 for a New Fire Extinguisher and fixed the new one on the spot and passed the Technical Inspection.

Went to the onsite Police post and the officer has already noticed the car and he said "Oh that Car, No Problem" and he authorized the Legal Requirements signed and stamped the paper.

Out there by less than 20 Minutes :)

Thank You.
