Car crash

Last month my car was in a car crash. It was 100% not my fault and this has been stated in the police report and admitted by the other driver.

However, even though the other person has fully comprehensice insurance they are going to charge me to get my car fixed!!! 8500QR They say that because my car is 2007 I must pay 50% of any new parts they use. They couldn't find all 2nd hand pieces and so I need to pay part of the new bits. THe totally bill is much bigger but I still have to contribute.

Surely this can't be right. If it's not my fault I should not pay. Otherwise, maybe it happens again tomorrow as I drive away in my newly fixed car....and I have to apy out tomorrow???

Any advice?

Wow the exact same thing happened to me pretty much, I have a 2007 model car, there was 8500qr riyals damage to it, after an accident that was a POLICE cars fault, and the insurance company wanted me to pay 50% of the spares.

My dad went down to the insurance company, asked for ONE piece of documentation that proved we had to pay it and they declined. After a while they tried to make a deal saying we could pay 30% and they would pay the rest. We said no, were paying nothing, to get rid of us they then said OK pay 50% of a new tyre (which still cost 850qr) and they will waive the rest of the fee, so we said OK.

Go down there, say you want some proof that you have to pay this amount, to show your lawyer, or else you arent going to pay a riyal, that's the only way out of this scam i'm afraid.

Don't forget the Qr.500/- you have to pay on EVERY claim you make DESPITE the fact that you pay an annual premium...so if the cost of fixing the damage is Qr. 500/-,sure your insurance company will pay for it...but you pay them Qr. 500/-,so really, what's the point of being insured or making a claim?...Insurance con job,one of MANY con jobs in this town...no big surprise here...

I found this out the hard way too. Welcome to the huge insurance con of Qatar. Its only the first year that 100% of new parts are covered. After 2 years its 30% deduction, 3 years 40%, and 4 years or more is 50% value.

I might have the exact % off slightly, but the point is the same. Never in ANY other country I have been have heard of parts devaluation. What in the world is the point of paying for insurance in the first place?
