I have been 4 months working in Doha,
Now I want to resign but worry the boss angry with me.

Can I use one of the holiday, ask boss for exit permit,
than fly back home contry and never come back again?

Ofcaurse I will never want to see my boss again.

Will there be any problem that can happen to me in the future.
(I have no problem to get another job in my home country.)

(also I don't have taken any loan here.)

i hope we can do this whenever there is a trouble we don't want to face it. . but unfortunately, we have responsibilities, we live for it, we keep it so that we don't hurt others and get hurt....

it's really sad you have problems here, if you do so, i don't think you would feel better as there is always something haulted in your mind.

i think you should stay and think about it, maybe one more month.

i understand that after 4 months in a foregn country, you get home sick!

maybe you should try to meet some nice people like here on ql.

ql is a good place to hang out, but better is, when you can meet some of the users in person, the hang out will be more fun.

it happened to every person who left their country.

there is no place like home. but if you get to meet good people you will find a space in qatar and consider it as your "home", at least for the time been.

if you are having problem with your boss, i think try and solve it out, instead of just "RUN AWAY"!

the same thing happened to one of my husband's employees, who wanted to leave after 2 months, saying that his wife left him while hes here and that his baby is left alone.

its really not easy, after all the expanses for visa, ticket flat and so on.... for the employee to just leave! its a lot of lost! put your self in your bosses shoes.

in the end its all up to you to leave,or stay. one thing you must do, is to at least leave in a polite way.

nobody can tell the future.

good luck

There are so many reasons employee has to lie here in Qatar and once they leave never comeback.

1. Slavery law -even on professional level. You are not allowed to leave country for your own wish, even for one-two days of your holidays. Every time you need your boss permission. So why should I become slave when I have better option else where?

" If you love someone let him/her free, if she/he comes to you... it is yours.. otherwise..." You cannot hold people by force... by slavery rule.

2. Employers refuse to give NOC letter or release letter. Professionals/Engineers should be treated with respect for the knowledge and skills they have and they play major role in development of country. This may be the reason, I don't see many qualified and skilled professional here. Even they are here, they may be because they are stuck or for temporary period.

3. Salaries are low. Most of the cases salaries are low and living cost is high. You might ask me- then why you sign such contract? Yes-you are right, anybody join and start working hard thinking that he will get better change later on or increase in salary but due to one way slavery rule-employers exploit their employers and they have no other choice but to find some other mean to scape.

4. Government listen one way only...let me give you example. Once your employer fire you, he has right to depot you in a week but but you have no right to ask NOC letter if he is not giving one, but government still protect him. Further more if he has loan... he cannot even leave the country. If he cannot work(due to NOC) then how he will pay his loan? Further more due to illegal stay here... (he has to pay fine daily... I don't know much about it)

I hope Alexa and others may have got the reason for what is happening...

why do people find it perfectly ok to lie? And then wonder why all of them are tarred with the same brush?

Maybe the question should be: Why do so many people feel compelled to lie?

this lady has a valid working visa in Qatar until 2010... yet deciding not to return anymore due to circumtances of marriage and eventually pregnancy...

will there be any sanction that the company she worked with will run after her?

she dont have loan or any liabilities here... perhaps is the only thing that her boss might run after is due to the return way ticket expenses the company made to her, and other expenses like unexpire portion of the visa, driving license fees and the likes...

what do you think she might do?

i have one case for you friends asking to say something on too...

say, what if an employee has to go home in her home country, actually she's due for an annual vacation. while on her vacation, a circumstances of marriage and then pregnancy arise, now she came out to decide not to go back anymore here in Qatar...

what are the consequences she might undergo?

I agree with Alexa.

Just stand up for yourself and like honestpedal said be a man. You have't committed a crime so I really dont see why you have your tail between your legs. Look at your contract, what is the probation period? Since you are prepared to pay for your own ticket just write your resignation letter, tender your notice and leave. If your boss wants to turn purple in anger, let him.

but knowing my company, I do let them leave by emergency. Once they are out of the country, I tell the company to look for replacement. If they asked me if I knew my staff is not coming back, I will just say to them, "your guess is as good as mine".

I'd prefer my staff to be honest!

One of my guys went "to get engaged" and I've heard nothing from him as he's now 1 week late returning. I'd rather he just told me the job sucked and he wanted to return, that way I can plan for a replacement.

Did you Google it first?

I don't have any loans from bank or other people.

I once express my will of resign to boss(he is expat also),

suddenly he sound very angry, very frightening.

so I said ok I stay.

My worry is that if I submit resign letter,

he might do something to stop me from leaving the country, like refuse to give me exit permits?

(note, I am able pay my own flight ticket.)

wait for a time when your Boss is in a good mood then tell him you want to resign. Don't look frightened.Tell him your intension in a nice manner. You are educated to at least say what you want. I don't suggest you just leave and never come back, that is being unprofessional.Try to be still on the good side.

This worse part of Qatar... Once you are stuck in any odd or low paying job, or bad company.. you cannot simply get away. Even you ask them to leave and if company not want to leave you, you cannot do much. You need exit letter which in you boss hand.

By anonymous• 25 Oct 2008 14:28

pay all the expenses made by your company and a lot more. If you clear all of these, then you are free to go.

Advice: Clear your responsibilities in Qatar, loans to Banks and to people - bla bla bla ..

Then write a resignation letter to your Boss, based on your contract. He cannot force you to work with him. He can only stand in your way of working for someone else in Qatar, but since you want to go back home - you have nothing to worry about.

Just do not run away like a coward. Be a man and stand up to him and speak your mind. You will always get what you want in the end.

Good luck.
