I worked at the Cambridge school for over 5 years as a teacher, and was happy to renew my contract at the end of my first year, to complete two full contracts. Unfortunately, I had to leave due to family reasons.

The school recruits teachers from around the world and really exemplifies “unity in diversity” in their teaching staff by having a multicultural group of well-qualified teachers. As with any international school, there is a yearly turnover, however, the majority of staff complete their initial contracts with many going on to sign up for additional contracts.

During my time at the Cambridge School, I was impressed by their understanding of growth and development. In today’s world, change management is at the crux of any successful organization and the attitude of the administrative team and culture of the school is one of understanding that change is inevitable and we must be open to it. The open culture of learning helps to instil this idea in the staff. My supportive and encouraging administrators were always encouraging me to stretch my thinking and teaching skills.

professional development opportunities are provided to staff (I completed courses in Classroom Management, Focused Learning Lesson Planning, and more during my time there). Regular PLC sessions for all staff (not only teaching staff), but based on capacity building topics also offer the space and forum for staff to explore topics and themes in education that impact international students; the school as a whole; and 21st-century education.

The administrative team (starting with the Director of the school) and including the level administrators are all truly supportive and caring individuals. I saw on numerous occasions how they would take care of the staff (from making home-made soup for sick staff members and dropping it off at their homes) to going with staff to the local hospitals in case of emergencies. They understand the importance of work-life balance and are always open to listening to concerns. The Level Administrators sit in the staff rooms with their team of teachers and I found that useful and them approachable.

The administrative team meets regularly and the lines of communication with teaching staff were open and they encourage consultation. We would usually have topics brought up at our level staff meetings for consultation; topics that impact the school as a whole, but which the administration was keen to hear from the staff about, before making any final decisions.

A mentorship program is also in place which assists teachers to meet and talk regularly about anything impacting them (whether it be life in Macau or issues with their classrooms) Curriculum resources are provided to the staff and the staff are encouraged to create more, as they see fit.

In an effort to provide the best curriculums and programs for international students, the School has adopted the curriculum for England. The curriculums in Kindergarten and Primary are based on inquiry, capacity and skill development. Students are really encouraged to think critically, question, and use metacognitive strategies in their learning.

Overall, among the international schools that I have seen, I would recommend School of the Nations as an employer for teachers who are open to learning and want to be a part of an organization which is forward thinking

The cambridge school is a great place to start your career with as I did. As it is said, "To teach is to learn twice." That is what happened to me. Cambridge school is a school with a difference as it is completely child-centric which makes a teacher more and more innovative to motivate the students in a very healthy way which in turn helps to build a symbiotic relationship.

The school Offers Great work culture which keeps everyone on toes thus making the situations challenging and exciting which prevents boredom and monotony.

The school has provided me with a field filled with productivity and learning. It provides a great arena to fulfil their potential and grow and learn. The school has a great work environment with latest facilities and dedicated teachers, the school also takes care of students as individuals and looks at the all round development of the students. Teachers are responsible and cooperative.
