Hi! I'm planning to open a custom shop (garage) for cars and that's including custom paints and bodykits (fiberglass and carbonfibers) can somebody tell me how to set up the business? I'm new in qatar and still have no idea about the country but I'd stay in UAE for 9years and been working for different garages that improves my expertise in car modifications. Some advice will be appreciated.

Better do a job in any good garage instead of opening this business, because you would loose out a lot of money, owing to huge operating costs that are very high as compared to little profit margins. The operating costs may not be less than Qar. 700,000 annually.

Well it is sound like what is in dubai.i think that's the way to open a business in any Gulf countries but still many expats are willing to deal with that. Sponsors having more parts is quite fair for me if that what it takes to open a business

And the most important: you cannot operate a business in Qatar without a Qatari sponsor who owns 51% of the enterprise. You will never be able to do as you like. The Qatari sponsor will always have the majority in all decisions. Think twice!

I would suggest contacting the local chamber of commerce and getting proper first hand information from them.

You could also visist a couple of garages in the Industrial area and speak to the owners.. They could give you ideas of rental costs, labour costs etc
