Brit guy feeling very lonely

Sarnian
By Sarnian

Hi everybody,

I am sure that everybody goes through this, but I have arrived in Doha, and am working for Qatar Airways. I am on a temporary contract and have therefore had to leave my wife and 2 beautiful children behind. I try to Skype them every night, but seeing them upset is having a profound effect on me, so I am reaching out to the community for help and guidance, and ask do you think working away from home is worth the pain and anguish i am putting my family through? Are there any Groups that meet to go out and have fun? I am sorry for moaning, but i do feel very low at the moment.....

Not all that glitters is gold.

Expat life can be a harsh one and needs mental strength. Some people adjust easily and others don't.

You obviously took stock of the situation before coming here. Perhaps you can adjust, but your family can't.

Can you bring them over ?

I don't know your personal circumstances, but having been an Expat for many many years, I would say that you need to sit down and see where your priorities lie. Money comes and money goes, but time spent with young children is never replaceable.

Good luck!

Nothing will make you happy other than bringing your family here. Do so, try.

Good luck...
