Blackberry Yahoo email set up

Tried everything. Nothing worked.

Subscribed to Yahoo Plus (USD 20/year). Worked immediately.

YM does not require Yahoo mail plus, read the posts above, i have already given the solution in previous posts, it will work for YM even if u are a FREE Yahoo user, just restore the yahoo service books and follow the steps as posted...

so i paid this yahoo mail plus only for nothing coz i still can't get connected with YM via my Blackberry....hopefully vodafone or maybe Qtel itself can solve this tiny problem...it's not make sense coz we live in mobile world now...even in Indonesia, I can get connected with Indonesian provider from YM freely on my blackberry..

My phone is AT&T - unlocked by AT&T and I had this trouble myself with obviously no help from QHell, i had to search and find my way out through different forums online.

OK thanks. But how many people here have American AT T phones?

Most of this phones is Dubai or Qtel.

OK my is Vodafone from Europe.But I pay to have open phone for any SIM.

@SUN: Even if one gets Yahoo Plus, messenger problem in AT&T would not be solved till service book file is present in the phone.

Yahoo Messenger DOES NOT require Premium Yahoo Account. Its an old problem with AT&T Blackberry phones, as Yahoo Messenger requires specific service book file given in the link above which is not there by default in AT&T phones.

P.S:

I was able to setup Free Yahoo Mail because I am a Power User of Yahoo Mail, otherwise, Yahoo Mail on Blackberry does require Yahoo Plus account but not for Messenger.

Its more convenient to pay 72 QAR for 1 year and have yahoo mail and messenger free of problems.

If you use an AT&T Blackberry and are getting the message "Service not Enabled for this handset" message do the following:

PLEASE BACKUP YOUR DEVICE FIRST.

- Download the Yahoo Messenger 2.0 service book (NOT THE APPLICATION) from http://www.box.net/shared/aetu7mfqip

- Open Desktop Manager and restore the above file to your device.

- Manually register your handset with the network via:

Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Tables > Menu > Register Now

- Load your own backup back to the device.

- Log into your BIS account (www.qtel.blackberry.com), goto Help (on left side) and re-send service books

- Download Yahoo Messenger from mobile.blackberry.com

It should work fine even with FREE Yahoo.

Its true. You need Yahoo PLUS even for Yahoo messenger.

They are integrated in yahoo server system and if you like it or not need subscription to yahoo PLUS.

Its simple you use the same mail and user name for messenger yahoo like your email.

Hey boys and girls who use yahoo...I really don't understand what its problem to pay yearly so cheap subscription to Yahoo Plus few rials...?

Calculate how much you pay for using browser and Qhell every month and trust me in 2 months you pay yearly Y.Plus.

And you can use Yahoo mail in POP Outlook whats come very useful. At least for me.

Guys, could you please tell me how can i use the yahoo messenger in my BB9000. I tried a lot of times to login but failed, after a lot of tries i called Qtel Cust. Care and spoke with different guys and ladies they were unable to help me on this issue(their reply was unsatisfying, blablabla), some of them replied "You must need a Yahoo Plus account to use messenger" i told him "Dude i am not talking about yahoo mail i am asking abt Yahoo messenger." He keep repeating the same dialogue "You must need a Yahoo Plus account to use messenger". I told him Thank You very much for the support hang up (Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr).

Your help means a lot to me! ;)

And one suggestion for all BB Users: Is it possible to share the BB PIN and keep in touch with BB Messenger.

I wonder how I was able to configure my FREE Yahoo mail account by using [email protected], since Sun has so confidently said it does not work with Free Yahoo.

Anyways, I am glad its working for me.

Sometimes i am still charged by QHell even though I disabled APN and followed steps mentioned by Sun, some browsing is still charged...Qhell is seriously pathetic. Hope Vodafone comes with BB soon.

Regarding browsing on the bb

and after done with these setting I browse on my bb does it means

that qhell will not charge me for browsing I no it's a stupid

work normal at black berry without subscription.

BUt if you use long years one yahoo email

will be crazy to change now to MSN or GMAIL...

you can get Yahoo on your Outlook express

at normal PC.

YAHOO WILL NOT WORK IN ANY WAY IN BB Service if you dont

have YAHOO PLUS Service.

go to your yahoo email. on the right side OPTIONS

and find YAHOO PLUS.

ONly one way to get yahoo is through web based Yahoo

but this cost much much more then yearly subscribtion

to PLUS.

I try so many ways but the old one allways work.

I was not able to config my bb for yahoo by fowllowing

the (plus) and the( mail) yahoo method mentioned above

I have a normal yahoo account I tried mail.yahoo.com but was

unsuccessful It was asking for the yahoo mail server

then I tried the other method mentioned above but was again unsucessful

if somebody can help me, in detail as to how u config ur yahoo on bb

I resolved the issue of being charged for browsing by disabling APN settings (Menu>options>advanced options>TCP/IP> Uncheck APN Settings Enabled).

After unchecking the APN settings I was not charged for browsing as I check on e-qtel.

I will also also follow the steps for Browser Push mentioned above just to be more safe...Thanks Sun Fun Sea for sharing.

Entire Qatar is eagerly awaiting launch of BIS from Vodafone to get rid of the DISGUSTING Qtel service who dont even bother to respond.

If you are not in coverage of BB they charge you using any browser like using GPRS or GSM data transfer.

If you are in zone where BB is active-if they charged you 1 rial you can make complain but until now I see that Qtel is here just to taking money and not help to any customer

when something happen what is not right or wrong.

If this is 10 rial or 10000.

Hope that VOdafone who is very strong all around the world will invest here to stop monopolist Qtel and shit service who just lie and cheat people.

When you using browser switch off Browser PUSH this will prevent to use any other browser if BB is not covered.

Automatically they put you in any browser if you not fix this in your BB.

1. GO to MENU

2. OPTIONS

3.ADVANCED OPTIONS

4.BROWSER, default browser config.: must be INTERNET BROWSER, default MDS browser conf.: must be INTERNET BROWSER and default WAP brower conf.: must be MOZAIC MOB

--------------------------------------------------------

then repeat point 1.2.3.

and go to BROWSER PUSH

uncheck ENABLE PUSH

uncheck ENABLE MDS PUSH

uncheck ENABLE WAP PUSH

go to the end of this screen

and also

uncheck ALLOW WAP PUSH applications

All this must be UNCHECK-ed.

Im glad that my post help. But its really shame that after almost 30 days no one call me for my registered complain and the same happen 5 days ago.

Me and my friend buy another SIM card and we ask also BB package...

they say we must wait 48 hours to activation BB. Ok but seams strange bcs. one month ago they activate in 30 min after we left Qtel.

ANd after 2 days I call, call, call they say but no one was order BB at this number??? hahahaa

OK. I ask then pls. activate? ok. we will but you must wait...and I wait another 2 days nothing...call, go to Qtel again...nothing...

ANd today I come very very angry and I ask the name or number of Qtel person who will lie again to me that they activate my BB.

And I explane that I wait 5 days...and he also told me that at this number no one apply any BB. hahaha

After clear instructions I get finaly BB activation.

This is the shame how people at Qtel lie customers.

With full responsibility QTEL stink from roots.

Vodafone I know from Hong Kong late 1997 and I was happy with VOdafone service in many countries.

Hope they make better BB service then QTEL.

Can someone tell me what browser to use so that we are not charged for browsing?

I used "Internet Browser" of BlackBerry and i was charged for usage even though it was just 6MB something. Qhell says i used wrong browser hence was charged for data usage, they could not explain anything, pathetic.

I use Yahoo Mail & not Yahoo Plus and i have configured it On Qtel Blackberry. I added yahoo by [email protected] instead of the regular [email protected].

I did this by trying different things & it worked. I never received any help from Qtel, no matter how much u call, complain or bang your head, you will never get any response from this sick company called QHell.

Qhell is seriously pathetic with its service, the worst telecom operator in this region.

better move awaty from yahoo. helps save you a lot of time

QTEL start making problems to BBerry Yahoo users.

I notice every 10 days I cant log on, I cant get emails

to BB and only one solution is to

GOING at yahoo account and change password

p.s. I call Qtel, I stay in Qtel, I make complain and get number of complain but no one call me, no one help me and this is so sorry for word Bulll SHit company.

OK simple explanation.

Connect your BB to desk PC or laptop where you have or you need to install BB software DESKTOP MANAGER.

In main menu you will find ICON

EMAIL SETTINGS

General and EMAIL message redirection

you need to CHECK ( Forward incoming email messages to my device and click APPLY.

Then restart your BB and if this not work

then delete all account in BB unit.

How you do this :

Menu, Options, Advanced options, service book and

in service book find

2 times must be your email !!!

Mark one by one and with MENU button BB,

choose DELETE.

Restart BB.

Go to your Yahoo plus account mail on normal PC or laptop, go to OPTIONS find account settings and

CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD. (believe or not this will help

to me and many others what I help.)

After you change your password continue with NEW

installation of your Yahoo Plus email on BB like this:

Go to BB Menu on your unit (in my case is BOLD 9500)

and go to SETUP, then E-MAIL setup or you can do this step more easy from your home PC or laptop going to link:

http://qtel.blackberry.com/

Here if you are not registered make new account name,

then follow procedure so simple.

Okay, so I set it up as per your recommendation Sun and now I have BB working with ********@plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com (my regular account is ********@yahoo.com.

I am able to receive my emails into my BB BUT when I write back via BB, the return address is the first one above (the longer one with plus.pop) and the emails are sent out.

The problem is that you can not write BACK to the @plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com address. So, I can receive an email on my phone and I can write back on my phone but I can't have then someone write ME back unless they remember each time to just use the @yahoo.com address (rather than the @plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com).

Makes sense. Does anyone know how to remedy this?

You are a genius! It is exactly as you said! I called Qtel and they were unhelpful. I told them that I had "premium" Yahoo! and that I already did pop into Outlook and Qtel told me that Yahoo! wasn't supported here in Qatar. I was contemplating switching to an iphone until I read your post. Thanks again.

as you said yahoo is premium service(need to pay for the mail subscription) for ms outlook try gmail which is free and faster!!
