We have a bed bug infestation and want to know where we can buy supplies to treat it. This would include specific bed bug sprays, 99% isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol, special dishes kept under the legs of our bed to catch them, etc.
Reminds me decades back when we were studying and living at a boarding school. Ever so often we had to put our mattress and bed out in the sun from morning till evening.
With the temp. here reaching 45 and 50c it should prove to be effective.
Being lo tech, environmentally friendly and cost effective. :)
The exterminators may not have been professionals. If they would have used the right chemicals there would be no bed bugs in your rooms for a year. A good company that knows the job also gives you a surety of this. The technique advised by techn is good. I would just like to add something. After pouring boiling water at all places on the bed especially around the corners and cracks or joints, you could follow it with by mixing a high concentration of Dettol with water and pour that again. You will need to place the mattress, pillows, comforters etc out in the sun if possible and make sure there are no bugs or their eggs in them Otherwise the entire effort would be futile.
you can use an electric kettle. Bed bugs hide inside joins and other difficult to reach places. During night they come out . Also dry the clothes in sunlight. These echniques might not work if you have toomuch upholstry inside the bed room
try boilding water at tight corners and other areas which are not easy to access. You have to repeat this regularly. the eggs will be left over and they hatch again.
Actually we had an infestation just two months ago. The exterminators didn't seem to do a very good job because they're back in the same area as before! Though we are calling them for re treatment, we want to do some additional treatment ourselves.
One way is by taking the services of any pest control company. They would spray all the rooms and affected areas with their special chemicals which would not only kill the bugs but prevent their reappearance for several months.

Thanks for the tip! Can you elaborate more though? I don't know exactly how I should boil water in bedrooms
