Any advice renewing Canadian PR in Canada?

Has anyone recently renewed their PR in Canada?
We landed in summer 2011, ideally should go and live there for 3 years, but we might have to delay it.
Has anyone had any experience with renewing their PR?
How long did it take? DO they do it easily or need docs and proof and stuff? ANy tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

THanks

I feel although not Canadian that it is disgusting that a country allows immigration and citizenship, including taking in refugees just gets abused for its trouble. Maybe they should be like Qatar and not grant citizenship to anyone

Gotta agree with you. You really can't be a citizen if you don't support your country! We US expats pay taxes, for sure!

I suspect he is trying to cheat the Canadian govt by not living there and not paying any taxes while still trying to get the benefit of a Canadian passport. Thank God they have been cracking down on such cases the last 3 years. More and more of these types are people are getting caught and being stripped of their residence.

I suspect if you just pay your taxes in Canada they will count that.

They have become very strict over the last few years. If you are not resident there they can strip you of your resident status and you will not get a chance to reapply.

Why are you not there if you want to be a permament resident and eventually become a citizen? Are you expecting them to make a commitment to you and your family but you are not going to make the same commitment to them?
