Together this Christmas - The Filex Group Christmas Party
The Filipino Expatriates in Qatar Living had a wonderful Christmas Party last night. It was held at the Doha Grand Hotel. The members together with family members had a grand time. It was more of a family reunion than just a social gathering.
The organizers within the group have been preparing for this event for a long time. In keeping with the long Christmas season in the Philippines, the group has been having a monthly Kris Kringle party since September. It culminated yesterday with the Grand Christmas Party. The theme was "QL Filexpat: Sama-sama ngayong Pasko - A Grand Christmas Celebration" (QL Filexpat: Together this Christmas - A Grand Christmas Celebration)
The participants were divided into groups all of which were tasked to come up with a group presentation interpreting the theme. The presentations showcased the hidden talents of many of the members in singing, dancing and acting. It was a friendly competition which in the end strengthened the camaraderie in the whole group. Group 2 was the presentation champion but everybody was a winner with the entertainment the presentations brought us.
We had special presentations and a live band featuring the QL Filexpat resident band - GlassOnion Band. There was also the Blue Monday Band. DJ Mark and his posse provided the party music.
There was also a raffle in which no one left home empty handed. We had the grand Kris Kringle with each one looking for his/her gift partner based on the historical name each drew on a fish bowl (ex. Tarzan's partner is Jane).
We had a donation of major raffle prizes. Qatar Living in cooperation with Intercontinental Hotel Doha gave 4 dinner for two vouchers. (Thanks QL Admins and Hotel Intercon!) Filex members Arnauld, Lovinni, Chichi and Xplode were the lucky winners. The nephew of BlueRose won the Black and Decker Personal Oven and Excentrex won the grand prize of a JBL personal speaker system.
The event was covered by TFC - The Filipino Channel. Excerpts of the event will be seen in "Balitang Middle East" (Middle East News) in ABS-CBN and TFC news portion in Qatar and GCC, the Philippines and around the world.
We thank all the organizers who have tirelessly worked to make this activity happen and give all members an entertaining night to remember.
