MANILA, Philippines - President Benigno Aquino III on Monday personally welcomed returning overseas Filipino workers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport for the labor department's annual Pamaskong Handog program.
Balikbayans disembarking from Qatar Airways flight 646 from Doha, Qatar were surprised to see the President welcome them at the airport. One OFW was surprised why her wheelchair was being pushed backwards only to meet President Aquino.
Aquino also gave raffle prizes to 3 OFWs. The winners, who all worked in Doha, Qatar, are:
- Myrna S. Pagkaliwanagan, a teacher, hails from Batangas City;
- Gilbert Acebedo, a salesman, hails from Tatalon, Quezon City; and

The 3 took home P450,000 worth of cash and gift checks.
The Chief Executive’s meet and greet of the country’s new heroes is the highlight of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration’s (OWWA) annual program “Pamaskong Handog para sa OFWs” which allows the President to welcome groups of OFWs arriving from Asia, Middle East, Europe or America to spend time with their respective families this Christmas season.
