Ramadan at MIA
The Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) is hosting a series of events and activities for the public that are taking place during the holy month, under the leadership of Qatar Museums (QM) chairperson Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani.
Lectures on Islamic art, history and Ramadan have been announced, along with story-telling sessions for children and family activities geared towards children, like handcrafting Ramadan lanterns or rug-weaving with paper.
The anticipated MIA Bazaar will also be held on Saturday evenings, from 5:00 pm until midnight, with food and handicrafts on sale for all ages.
Garangao, the children’s party that traditionally happens on the 14th of Ramadan, and is eminent particularly in the Gulf, will also be celebrated. Festivities will be held to mark it on June 7th, with an evening of storytelling, traditional gift-giving and other activities.
Salem Almarri, deputy director of Learning and Outreach at MIA, told the Gulf Times: “We are delighted to offer a range of fun, family-friendly activities for everyone to enjoy and take part in at MIA in celebration of the holy month of Ramadan.”
