this is complicated because english is a composite language. verbs like I go become I went in the past tense (originally from a completely different word). No way to learn these except practice all languages have such irregular verbs. While you could apply the simple rules I go (present), I will go (future), I go-ed (past), these do not work grammatically always but amazingly everyone will understand what you meant to say! Stick to simplicity and people can understand you easily, it is when non-native speakers attempt complexity that problems begin hence Hinglish, where Indian people apply rules learned during the 19th century Raj with hilarious results. THE SLEUTHS NABBED THE MISCREANTS is accepted here in Qatari newspapers largely Indian influenced whereas this would be laughed at in the UK where the police would arrest the criminals! Listen to BBC world service news which is as good English practice as you can get (mostly).

properly match the Verb with the time expressed in the sentence, when we say time, we mean the present, past, and future.
present tense: subject + -ING form of the verb
ex. *Single subject: I am typing. She is sitting.
*Plural subject: They are reading.
past tense: subject + past form of the verb
*past form of the verb = simple form + D or ED, or other form.
(ex. dive=>dived, learn=>learned, eat=>ate.)
future tense: WILL, WOULD, SHALL, SHOULD + simple form of the verb.
Use WILL/WOULD if time is sure to come;
SHALL SHOULD if time is not certain to come.
Other basic rules in the English grammar:
Verb be - AM, I, IS, WAS, WERE. DO, DOES, & DID. HAS, HAVE, HAD, these are all used with the SIMPLE FORM OF THE VERB
