Special Needs Schools in Doha
My 3 year old Daughter has a speech delay and comes under the Autism Spectrum. We have been asking about schools here for special needs and We found 2 places:
1. Sunbeam Nursery for Special Needs (British Management)
2. Doha International Center for special needs (Qatari Management with English)
We just want to know if there are any parents out there who can advise us about he quality of these schools, to aid us in our choice. We have visited both places and it is a friendly atmosphere, but we do not want to jump in looking at the sugar coating, considering that this child who cannot be easily corrected if the right kind of education is not imparted. I am sure all of you would understand our dilemma. If any of you know of any other places that can be considered, we would appreciate the information. Also if there are English speaking support groups here in Qatar we would really like to be a part of them, cause these children are special and we understand the difficulties of the parents who love them but are helpless at times.
Plz can someone tell me affordable schools for my kid my son and daughter both are having same speech problem and i can not afford for both my daughter had 80% in her exams but still school teachers were having problem with her and they said we can not promote her to another class plz help me she like to study but no school is giving them addmission because they cant talk properly

Hi all,
I have been working with children with Intellectual Disability from past 10 years which include children with Autism, cognitive impairment, Down’s syndrome, global Delayed . I have had some commendable experience to my credit with regard to the dynamics of Speech and Language Pathology. Currently I'm based in Singapore, and trying to relocate to Doha, as my wife works in Qatar airways and doing great job in her career. If anyone has any idea of any current opening in Doha for speech language pathologist. please let me know. With all my experience and hard work, I can contribute well in bringing special needs program in Doha with quality and success .

I am a mother of a 9year old Autistic child who attends the same school.
Hope this helps
Shafallah is a wonderful school here in Qatar. One of the reasons we moved here from the States is for my daughter with Downs Syndrome to attend. They are not taking DS children at this time, but Shafallah does specialize in education and treatment for children with Autism. They have a website, if you type in Shafallah, Doha Qatar. It is backed by the Sheikha here and I have been to the grounds, it is absolutely beautiful and has all modern equipment and the treatments there are up to date. Hope this helps!!!
I have sent you my contact number in a private message. My son have been through both schools. If you want you can call me.
Hi there, my son has a speech problems and we were quite worried when we came about what school's would be able to cater for him.
We had heard some stories about schools not accepting children if they could not put a small sentance together in good english, which I was quite worried about as my son struggles and takes time somitimes but does get there in the end.
My son goes to DESS which has been a great school so far. They have not once said "sorry we can't understand him, he has to go". Because of his speech difficulty he struggles in some things like reading and having the confidence to approach other children to play but the school have been great.
I think you can only start in reception so it might be worth you getting your daughter's name down asap as the list is very very long. They only had a place for my son and not my daughter so she is still home with me.
Sorry to rant on a bit but I know how you are feeling regarding the speech. Good luck in finding the right school for your daughter :-)
