Ditto BP, I bought an LG as well and serves its purpose for home entertainment if that's what you are looking for.

If you do your math, then 30,000 hours is enough lamp life for you to be worried about replacing them, technology would have surely moved on...

Picked up a LG HS 200 G - an LED projector so it has 30,000 hour life - bought it for QAR 1,799. Compared to my previous Tosh which had a 2,000 hour lamp life and cost initially QAR 3,200 with the lamps costing QAR 2,000 each to be imported from Japan!!!

The LG projects onto a screen size of around 105 inches and although it has 200 ANSI lumens - it is very bright (i thought it would not be effective considering my Tosh was 2,000 lumens). Not as impressive as the Tosh but overall i'm very happy with the product. The Size of the projector is 1/3rd of the Tosh.

Which ever brand you go for, be sure to check that spare bulbs are readily available and at a good price. I have a Benq. The bulbs have to come in from Dubai and cost twice the price as the rest of the world!

LP is right 2000 lumens or more is enough for personal use.

You can get any brand it depends on the specs, quality it depends on how use it or take care of it.

I believed the lowest cost in the market is 1900 which is LG, I recommend you purchase a bit high end projector which is 3D ready.

Try to Google it for more idea and reference.

The size of the 'screen' depends on the distance of the projector from the 'screen'. A projector in a cinema has

20 000 lumen and can light up a big screen. Personal projectors come with 2 000 lumen and are good to a distance of 3 - 5 meters.
