How can we get our son into a good school (reception) for this September?

Hi all! We're in Doha (from London) for 3 weeks at the moment checking things out, getting ready to move out here for a few years this september. The biggest priority is finding a good school that teaches the British National Curriculum for my little boys aged 3 and 4. The eldest one needs to start reception this sept 2012.
However, every good school is already full and the waiting lists are not going down as apparently, enough people are not leaving.

What can we do? Is it normal to move your child around when your preferred school becomes available? This seems very unsettling for the child. What do people do?

Thanks!

Absolutely no chance for this september - get on the waiting lists NOW for the decent schools - and be prepared to wait up to 2 years

Buy the school? lol! I know, it's a horror. Many US companies are recommending their employees with kids not come. Other companies buy spaces up to a year ahead. A lot of parents home-school. Do join Doha Mums, they've been though all of this.

From my experience the only answer is to wait! I am in the same position, I have 2 children on waiting lists for good schools in Doha, the likelihood of me getting them both into the same school is low :O( However, I will stay positive, apparently we could hear as late as a few days before autumn term starts.... people may move out over the summer (fingers crossed!) Good Luck!
