I am a student currently living in the United States, my family immigrated here from somalia in the mid-nineties.I was thinking about studying in one of the universities in Education City. But due to my families finacial situation we are unable to pay ANY of the expenses for my tuition, we cant even pay the application fees! I know Qatar Foundation has a pretty sweet deal for people like me, if I am accepted to a university in education city and I am eligible they will pay 100% of my tution fees on condition that when I graduate i stay and work in Qatar for a minimum of 1 year or not exceeding 6 years. So my question to everyone is does this sound like a good deal? And also keep in mind that my family is broke but alhamdulilah i think im inteligent enough to get into a good university. Also my family wont be able to pay for my flight to doha my living expenses or just pocket money to enjoy myself. If I get my tuiton paid does that mean they also give me money for food, activites, a cellphone? Any help will be greatly appreciated especially from people in my situation, have been in my situation or people who go to a univerity in Education city. And please dont tell me to ask them (Qatar Foundation, Universities) , because I have asked them, and everything I wrote here they have been unable to answer me,and I wanted other peoples opinion.

Most US students I have known here have been supported by family, or on scholarship from the US university main branch. One Georgetown student was supported by the G.I. Bill (former Marine). I suggest you continue checking into it, but also consider alternatives. Have you looked into the military scholarship programs? They offer similar opportunities (pay for your schooling and then you are obligated to work for the military for a certain number of years) and the pay in the end would be much, much better I believe.

Sorry but Qatar Foundation "can't" answer those questions? That seems very strange as they are the organization offering this opportunity.

Unless someone here has been able to get into this programme, you're unlikely to get definitive (and authentic/reliable) information.

Living in Qatar is expensive, even for a student. If your family isn't in a position to support you for the basics (food/accomodation) then it would be extremely difficult to survive here because you won't be allowed to work.

Actually is pretty good offer, in other country right after graduation the next problem is to find job, but for you its already ready.
