What is happening at Doha British School? More than half teachers are leaving and rumors about the managements don't pay the gratuity as part of the agreement ? Anyone knows and please info.

I am very worried, my boy is in DBS. Half of the teachers are leaving this year, some have been fired, head of finance has been fired too. There will be only 2 IB trained teachers next year. I called the school several times and I did not have straight answers ! I am trying to move my kid to another school, not easy as we are already end of June. I heard that they are under the Minister of Education in Qatar. Could you advise me ? What should I do?

Maybe you should ask that question to the person who is spreading lies about the school... But I guess you probably know the answer, as you are no doubt one and the same

I completely agree with all of the positive comments here - I believe someone has an axe to grind and they should take it up properly rather than through silly comments on web sites and social networking sites - I am even getting emails on my works email address from a guy and organisation I have never heard of! The school has my 100% support

I second scarlettgreys above, our experience with the staff in general has been very positive.

Our kids have been at school for 3 years now, the only wish I have is an end to the construction around the school. There is room for improvement anywhere you go in Qatar;

I think we have a bad apple tarting a smear campaign for some reason. Something is fishy with all these negative posts all of a sudden.

As a parent,I know that the staff deliver. they go over and beyond the what is expected. I talk to my child's teachers and I know they care about them. So why does the school not care about its staff? there are families at the school who live in places that you would question about your family pets.

I mean really if you have children you automatically want them to be able to play outside. But apparently not if you work at this school.

I think all of the staff do a fantastic job, they all seem to want the best for their students but if this school is not going to help them then and give them the a decent standard of living then more fool them. I just feel sorry for my son.

If this continues then he will have to keep making new relationships with his teachers - and that is not good

Smithy, how can u say all ok there, as we know that more than 50% staffs are leaving and they've been to MoL regarding the unfair gratuity. Gratuities are are one of their rights. And they have to fight for that? You should go and see yourself while they're at MoL (Ministry of Labor). The managements are bunch of people taking money from their staffs and saying to the owner that they can reduce the expenses for the benefit of the school. We all know that DBS is big school. But we just found out now about this crappy things. We don't want to continue paying if our money going to the wrong way. We pay quite a lot with the expectation that the school give the best for the students and also the teachers and other staffs. Anyone knows about this pls let us know as one of my granddaughters is there.
