Dear All,
I need your valuable suggestion for my Further Studies..
I have done MBA in Finance, Now almost i have 4 years Exprs in Doha.
When i see QP or other Compaines job Posting, they prefer to take the candidate with CPA or CFA Background. Now Planning to persue one of the above stated course in doha aftr office hours from 5PM.
please suggest me which is the best of the above stated. If any already studied in doha & Please share your exprs of studies, Institute, fees Etc.
Let me know which is better CPA or CFA....
Thank you all in advance.......
CFA is not superior in toughness when compared to ACCA or CIMA the only thing making it "HARD" is the volume of the syllabus , But a six month study is enough to cover them all .There are some papers in ACCA which has low passing rates as about 29%.
I myself did CMA (IMA USA) completed exams & passed now in planning to go for either ACCA or CFA.
If you have commitment, confidence and hard-work you can pass it all in one go!!
best of luck

CFA is the toughest among all of the certifications mention in the subject. And it will take at least 1.5 years to complete if you do it on first attempt.
Level 1: you can have exam in Dec and Jun (MCQs)
Level 2 and 3: you can have exam in Jun only. (MCQs in Level 2 & 3 and Essay in Level 3)
You can do it in 1.5 Years as follow:
Dec 2012 Level 1, Jun 2013 Level 2, Jun 2014 Level 3
You can have Jun exam in Qatar but CFA Institute does not conduct Dec exam in Qatar.
Passing Criteria: All the topic area should be above 50% and 2 to 3 should be above 70%
You have a choice between ACCA and CPA:
ACCA has 14 papers and it will take at least 2.5 years to complete, since you have your MBA ACCA will give you exemption of 5 Papers and you can do it in 1.5 years as well. You can attempt in any semester up to 4 papers, Exam in Jun and Dec could be attempt in Doha Qatar. Exams are scenario based questions (Not MCQs) ACCA recognize your industry or audit firm experience towards their requirement of experience for membership.
Passing Criteria: 50% marks
CPA has only four papers and the recognition is similar to ACCA and various other certificates. Since you have an MBA you can easily enrolled for CPA exam, (Evaluation will be easy for you). Certain boards in USA are now conducting exam internationally and Dubai and Bahrain are one of the options you can avail. CPA papers can be attempt round the years except for some months. The exams are multiple choice questions; you can attempt all four papers in one month or even one week depending upon the availability of the seats and your preparation.
Passing Criteria: 75% marks
depend what you like to learn but in my opinion CFA is better.
